With adjustable heat settings and a nice design, this works quite well. I've used super cheap flat irons and very expensive ones. With the cheap ones, I always longed for an expensive salon one (but couldn't justify the price). Since I bought this, I no longer wish I had a salon quality one. This one works great and was about a quarter of the cost! Yay for a good deal!

Great flat iron--especially for the price. It has several temperature settings and comes with a really nice comb which helps--it's nicely sized and has a pointed tip for separating strands to straighten. I looked at (and had several recommendations of) other flat irons that are twice the price. It is also great for putting curls into hair.

Anyone with long thick course hair will appreciate the temperature control up to 455 degrees. I've bought more expensive flat irons that only went up to 300 and well ..they were basically expensive and crappy. It's true the on off buttons and temperature buttons are strangely placed but with some getting used to you can work around that, I actually have the blow dryer from the same line and it's buttons are in a weird place too so I'm kind of used to it. The one thing I DO NOT like about this flat iron is it does pull pieces of your hair out at the base of the plates. If you've used multiple brands of flat irons over the years you understand exactly what I mean. Unfortunately this one has THAT flaw but it's a keeper for me. I think I'll buy another brand I like and go back and forth between the two.

I’m not sure if the plates are defective and not on straight but they are angled slightly causing the end to stick up a little bit. Because of this the edge grabs my hair and tears a few strands out with each down motion. Works great other than that.

Wow I mean this flat iron is so good. I was worried that I couldn't find a good flat iron like my old maxiglide but I guess I did. This iron straighten my hair with just two passes, and one pass to make my hair curly/wavy. And the comb is really sturdy not flimsy Like the others. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! THANKS JOHN FRIEDA!

The comb that comes with it bends easily with the heat and for the cost I went with the 1' surface instead does the same job

I took a chance & purchased these flat irons to straighten my daughter's thick 4C...lmnop hair. I was AMAZED how straight her hair was on the first pass. I was told I needed to spend over $100 for flat irons due to her hair type. NOPE!!! John Frieda Satin Finish Flat Iron/Straightener works like magic!!! I'm a very satisfied customer.

This flat doesn't straighten as well as I thought it would, especially for thick hair.
