Loss: Poems to better weather the many waves of grief

I bought this for a friend who had just lost her sister to cancer and knew she was a Donna Ashworth fan. I read it and the poems are truly beautiful. (I’m not really into poetry) The healing words are totally appropriate during a time of deep grief and sadness.I’ve just ordered all the books for my own reading and feel sure they will help me find the right words to say to a friend in need.

I dip in and put of this. Even though it mainly deals with death, it does include loss poems for all sorts of things. I bought another for a friend. Donna ashworth is wonderful.

Donna is an angel on Earth - I genuinely believe this - who brings light, compassion and healing.This book encompasses all this, because this is what "Loss" does: it brings healing.I found myself in these poems and, having lost my mother, I felt seen, I felt my feelings were validated, I felt like Donna put in words what I was feeling. There is healing in the common humanity of grief; we all have - sadly - gone through grief, some us are still in the initial burning moments. Grief will never go away, but Donna helps us re-frame it a little bit, gives us permission to feel and in doing so it feels like a healing balm on a painful scar.I highly recommend Loss to anyone. Thank you Donna for everything you do in this world.

Such a gem of a book! I bought it because I wanted some consolation as it was the second Christmas without my mum. It helped and was heart warming. Unfortunately coming back at school we got a terrible message, one of my students could no longer bear his pain and stepped out of life. I found very comforting poems that supported me. I bought this book after suffering the unexpected loss of my son. The poems are short and simple and have helped me with my grief. Donna's words touch your soul deeply and wrap your heart in warmth and comfort.I have since bought this book 4 times to give to friends, and I donated one to my local support group for bereaved parents 'The Compassionate Friends'. We now include one of Donna's poems to read in our monthly group meeting.Thank you Donna for sharing your grief and giving all those who have been bereaved some comfort here.

I have always been someone who avidly reads books, but I’ve never been especially interested in poems or bought a book of them.My mum died of covid Christmas Day 2020 and the grief and the combined trauma of knowing she died alone had me feeling suicidal.I ‘found’ Donna online and found her poems comforting and like she was somehow helping soothe parts of my soul that felt broken. There’s something healing reading verse that feels like it could come from your own heart so when I saw she had released a book on loss I ordered it straight away. I keep it on a table in my lounge and often sit and read a poem if I’m thinking of mum or feeling down. I’ve also sent them to friends or my sisters when they are grieving. I can’t thank Donna enough for sharing her beautiful words with us and for somehow unknowingly helping me in my darkest days.

A beautifully put together book

This is such a comforting book to have to hand when you are grieving. Donna's poetry speaks to one's heart and soul and she captures grief like no other. Most times, you cannot express your grief but Donna is able to express it for you and bring it to light. In that way, it helps you to heal because you know you are not alone. I bought 2 as gifts :)

Bought for a friend who lost their child in an accident with his Dad. Hoping they would find some comfort and solace in reading this book.

So many of us have experienced grief, either our own or the grief someone else is feeling. If you are experiencing times where you don’t know what to say, let Donna speak for you. Her words are touching, warm, comforting, and from a place of understanding. If you are sitting with a sympathy card in front of you, and you don’t know what to say, send a copy of this book instead. The recipient will be eternally grateful on those nights where grief if their only companion.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who had recently been bereaved, but both of us enjoyed it. The poems are simple but meaningful, touching and insightful, and they cover the whole gamut of loss and grief, so there is something in there for everyone. Now I need a copy for me!

Loss is a beautiful, touching book of poetry to help those who are going through a loss. I am going through the worst loss in my life right now from my son ending his life in January. The pain from that is unreal. While scrolling Facebook searching for an escape for my mind, support, anything, I came upon a Donna Ashworth poem one day on my feed. I was incredibly moved and I began to read more and follow her. The emotions and her understanding of life and how in touch she is with the human soul truly moved me. I’ve never read anything like these poems or felt as touched as I did. Then I came upon beautiful poem from Loss and it was exactly what I needed to read during this time. It is deep, touching, beautiful, and everything one who is going through a loss, needs to read. I purchased the book immediately. I highly recommend Loss and every other book written by Donna Ashworth. She is amazingly talented and has a beautiful way with words and a deep understanding of life.
