Country LaneNatural Soy Wax Candle Making Kit – DIY – Homemade

Good first candle-making experience, only a few drawbacks
Overall, this worked for a beginner candle-making set. One of the two containers it gave me was different from what it said it would be, which was fine, but just weird that it was a totally different shape/size. The block of dye it gave me was broken into five or six pieces, and packaged with the wicks and paper instructions, so all of those had green dye on them. I didn't use the dye in my candles, but since it had gotten on the wicks, two of my candles have a little bit of green in them around the wick. The fragrance I got (it might be different in every kit) smelled exactly like bubblegum-flavored medicine, which I would never want as a candle scent, so I threw it away and used essential oils instead. The pitcher was good, the wax melted easily, and the instructions were helpful and clear.I haven't burned the candles yet, but they've mostly hardened by now and look great (except for the little green parts). Overall, buying this kit was helpful in showing me how to do it, and I now feel confident enough to buy wax and wicks myself and make more!

Not too impressed...
I got this kit because I'm just learning how to make candles. It was in my price range and since I wasn't sure I would want to continue doing it seemed like a good gamble for the price. Plus this was the only beginners kit I could find that had a pour container bigger than 1pound capacity. The kit was nicely packaged nothing was damaged and it came with everything listed. My main complaints is the instructions were very minimal and I think it ruined the end result. One of the instructions says to use the color block but the color block included is sectioned like a Hershey bar. It doesn't specify to use one square or to use the whole thing. So thinking that if they included such a big color block then that must be how much it takes to color the color all the wax it came with. Like I said I'm a beginner so I was just trying to follow the instructions. Also it list that the wax needs to be a certain temp in certain stages of preparing the wax but there's no thermometer included... so I had to use one that I had in my kitchen which is no big deal but I didn't realize I would need one and now that thermometer is unusable for food. Now the most frustrating part about this project is the fact that the candles tunnel, don't stay lit, doesn't adhere (as shown in the pic) to the walls of the containers, and the fragrance wasn't listed (is "pearberry" if anyone is curious). Honestly I'm not sure if it was something I did to make these candles unusable or if it was the kit. I followed the instructions to a T so if anything it might just be that the quality isn't good. Maybe the wicks are too small too. Its hard to say. I did get what I wanted out of this kit though and that was to find out if I like candle making and getting a nice big pour container. Overall I do like candle making but I think I need to read a book or two to find out what works instead of buying another kit like this one and buying it all piece by piece.

Very nice
First off, the value is incredible! I got this for $15 dollars and usually the pouring pot, (which is really nice and it's one of the big ones), is more than $15 all on it's own. There is enough wicks for all of the containers they give you and both the wicks and containers are good quality. They give you some pearberry scent and green dye squares too. The pearberry scent isn't all that strong, but it is nice and fresh..good for a first-time project. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that there isn't any product description in the entire thing. I would like to know what I'm using to make these. I want to know what kind of soy wax and most importantly what kind of wicks they give you. Zinc core wicks can be harmful so I want to make sure I'm not poisoning anyone if i choose to use them. Also I ordered a pound of beeswax from this company, and instead of getting the 1 lb block I ordered, I got one of those sheets of beeswax which was "yellow" like the beeswax block I ordered, but it was also a very unnatural color of yellow. Like a pale lemon color..it was just weird, it looked like it was bleached then dyed yellow again. So I don't think I will be re-ordering a block from them based on the quality of the beeswax I've seen so far. Other than that this is a REALLY good starter kit, it arrived on time and in great condition(the company didn't use any bubble wrap/Styrofoam in packaging, always a plus:)) I'm happy with the product and I can't wait to start making candles:)

Great kit to get started!
This kit is a great entry level kit that gives you enough to test the waters of candle making without investing too much. I've had no issues with the kit itself and the variety of vessels it comes with is fantastic! My only recommendation is to buy an additional/separate fragrance as the one included is very artificial.

Easy to use, fun, high quality
I received this as a gift and am very happy with the set. The set comes with everything you need to make container candles. If you are trying to make candles that you pour into a mold and remove, you will need different wax. The way wax sets, it can either contract (and therefore be pulled out of a mold) or stay flush with the sides of the container into which it was poured (great for container candles, not ideal for molds). The set wax in this kit is still somewhat soft once you add the oil scent. You can easily add color dye, but the white wax is nice looking when finished too. We ended up using the wax to pour into blue mason jars and the end result was very pretty and lasted lit for many hours. The melting pot is high quality. This makes a great gift and is a fun hobby to pick up. You'll end up wanting to pour wax into every container in your house. A heads up that the wax provided only makes a few small candles or one large one (we filled two pint mason jars about 2/3 full). You can buy more wax online or at craft stores like Michael's. If you have expensive candles that have nice containers and are close to being completely burned down, you can save the nice container and re-fill it using this kit.
