Reducing one star because it didn't come set up from the factory to specs
The walnut finish is to die for! It's a very beautiful instrument. Sounds wonderful. The fretwork is impeccable, and Indian laurel looks and feels beautiful.I reduced one star just because it wasn't set up to fender specs from the factory. Even small things like the intonation, neck bow, and string height were way out of spec. Nothing too hard to fix, but when you buy a guitar you expect it to at least come set up to the official specs. It's another story if you want to fine tune it to your preference later.

At best Average
Overall a fine guitar, but you can get a better one for the same price. Neck not so smooth and pickups are less than average sounding. Playability is good.

All the positive reviews are right!
I sold all my guitars years ago having lost interest in playing. I owned many American and Japanese Fender Strats and Teles along with G&L's, Japan made Fernandes', and higher end Yamahas. Decided to get back into playing a bit again without sinking too much money into a guitar. After seeing all the good reviews on the Squier Classic Vibes, I decided to try one and when a great deal came up on Amazon Warehouse, I purchased it. 1st the guitar arrived completely new with all original packaging. The box showed minimal wear and tear so couldn't be happier with the condition. The actual guitar is every bit the quality of any American and Made/Crafted in Japan Fenders I've owned. The only difference being the quality of the hardware and electronics. Even then they function just fine and the pickups sound great. The paint and vintage tint finish on the neck are flawless and the neck pocket is as tight as it gets. I've had far more expensive guitars with 1/8" gaps on both sides at the body. Frets are nicely finished with no sharp edges or low/high spots that I've noticed. Really one of the best values out there in a guitar. On a side note, there was a negative review left on the exact same guitar I purchased from another individual, complaining the pickguard was all scratched up on a new guitar. The photo he posted shows all the plastic still on the guard and pickups! Take many negative reviews with grain of salt and consider the source.

Almost perfect. Tiny flaw easily corrected using an unconventional method.
As one of the photos shows, I have a Squier Classic Vibe 70's Strat and a Thinline Tele. Both are stunningly good for the price. The Tele was and still is perfect, needing not a single tweak or neck-set. The Strat had one tiny flaw ... the nut groove for the top 'E string was too deep and when fretting at the first fret, there was a noticeable buzz at the 2nd fret. I tried all the usual checks and adjustments but didn't want that string to have to be raised above the very low action of the other strings. (The 2nd fret was not any higher than any others). I also didn't want to phaff around with any of the usual methods for filling and then re-filing a nut groove. Instead, I used a very simple, unconventional method which proved to be ultra-simple and 100% effective. The action of that string is now as low as all the others without a single buzz anywhere. (One of the images explains what I did). The build quality of both guitars is superlative. Fret ends are rounded without a trace of 'sprout'. All controls work perfectly. There's no point in going on because all I'd be doing would be saying how excellent everything is. The only change I made to both guitars was to de-gloss the necks. I've never liked gloss necks on any guitar, so this is something I always do. Once again, examples of the effect are shown in some of the images. In recent years Squier have made massive improvements to their range of guitars. Fender's involvement in this has been pivotal. Both these guitars stand as evidence of that.
