CLA/CP Exam Secrets Study Guide: CLA/CP Test Review for the Certified Legal Assistant & Certified Paralegal Exam

Very good study guide that boils the exam down to it's essential elements. Please note, the Substantive Law section of this book does not include much about Bankruptcy, Wills and Trusts and Contract law, which is included on the CLA/CP exam. That said, I think this book was very helpful supplement to other sources.

While this review book certainly covers topics and concepts relating to what NALA tests you on in the Certified Paralegal Exam, it by no means is a reliable source of study. NALA, in recent years, updated their CP exam and it is not at all divided into the 5 categories that this book indicates. Furthermore, the amount of information you need to understand and know for the NALA CP exam is significantly more extensive than what's provided in this 100 page book. If you want the best prep book for the NALA exam, just purchase the one from the NALA website, because otherwise, you'll end up buying this book, failing the Knowledge portion of the exam, then realizing you need to a buy a book that actually covers the relevant topics covered in the exam, and then buying the NALA prep book from the NALA website anyway, therein spending significantly more money and time. But if the NALA prep book is too expensive for you and you absolutely need to find another way to study (which it was for me, which is why I purchased this product instead, unfortunately) try to find a book that covers these 9 topics extensively:1. United States Legal System2. Civil Litigation3. Contracts4. Corporate/Commercial Law5. Criminal Law and Procedure6. Estate Planning and Probate7. Real Estate and Property8. Torts9. Professional and Ethical ResponsibilityIf a book looks good and is cheap, but does not mention that it covers these specific topics in detail, don't buy it. Remember that NALA is a national organization, with an exam that is the same throughout the United States, which means the exam does not cover individual state legal systems. This was a problem for me, because my paralegal program at Cal State Los Angeles primarily covered California state specific information - and rightfully so, because 90% of practicing paralegals only deal with needing to know state-specific information (duh).Note* The exam is 120 questions, 100 of which actually count towards your final test grade. They absolutely cover all of these topics on the exam and it's robust. Bite the bullet and take your time studying these topics and you'll do fine. Good luck!!Galvin T. Chapman

I ordered this book to help me study for the CLA (paralegal certification exam) and it has been very helpful. The book is laid out in a simple format with the sections laid out according to the test. I have found this helpful and would buy other study materials from this company and feel prepared for a major exam.
