A little large for my small dog
I bought this item in size Small and have a dual feeder stand with size Small stainless steel bowls. This product works decently...it was a little bigger than I expected, but I would just say that if you plan on buying this product, be prepared to find a new bowl to accommodate for the width of this item. I have a small breed dog and the bowls I've used since she was a puppy were too small for this product- she was unable to eat all the kibble and I had to constantly pick up the bowl and shake the kibble around the bowl to wear she could get to it. Definitely worked to slow down her eating, however! In a larger bowl, this item works great. I travel almost every weekend, so I use this item in the set of bowls that I travel with and it works much better. Contrary to many other reviewers, I feel like that the suction cup on the bottom of this item is very strong. No way could my dog pull this out of her bowl. As long as you take the bone out of the bowl after every feeding and then maybe get the bottom a little wet before suctioning it into the bowl at the next mealtime, this item does what it is meant to do. This item probably wouldn't work so great in plastic bowls though.

did not stick well into my dogs bowls
i purchased this to help stop my dogs from eating their food so fast. my dogs all have steel bowls and i figured this would be an easy way to slow down their eating. the gobble stopper does not stay suctioned onto their bowls and they easily knock it right out of their bowl and continue eating. i would not recommend if you have bigger breeds because they will be able to knock it out.

... is based on how the product would perform under better conditions (sounds odd
This review is based on how the product would perform under better conditions (sounds odd, but hear me out). This product is great if your dog gulps down their food without stopping for a breath, or even to chew (I'd call what my dog does "inhaling" her food, but I swear breathing isnt even involved...), and it doesn't involve having to get a new food bowl, since it's designed to suction to the bottom of any bowl based on the size you buy. Big downside (and this is MY fault, not the product's), since it's plastic my heavy chewer dog was not a good match for this product. It worked as described, slowing down her consumption to a speed visible to the human eye and reducing how often she ended up with hiccups. But by leaving it in the bowl, it became a chew toy in the middle of the night, and so it was used for 2 feedings (well, 3 feedings, technically--I don't think we found all of the pieces...)Final verdict: great product, works as described, but take your dog's personality into account before deciding between this product and a slow-feeder bowl.

I've never had good luck with slow feeder attachments
I've never had good luck with slow feeder attachments. I prefer to find bowls that are already slow feeders. The suction isn't the best or the worst on this item; there's enough that it needs to be pried off to clean but not enough to keep it from moving around. Plus, it's pretty big. I bought it for my 18-pound poodle mix and he had to work a little too hard to get his kibble because the thing was so large in relation to his 6" metal bowl. This might be good for larger dogs needing larger bowls. If you put toppers in your dogs' food like I do, this has plenty of crevasses to clean. The product performs as described it just didn't work out for me and the dog for which I purchased it. I have three dogs of my own and regular foster dogs. Either one of my own or a foster found this item to be toy-like and so I would also find it in various locations around the house and yard if I wasn't paying close attention. It's not chew-proof. I finally had to set it aside. Maybe some day it'll work for one of my fosters and it can be put back into use.

Very clever, effective and economical!
The media could not be loaded. So brilliant! Turn any smooth surface bowl into slow feed. (I haven't tried to use it on his regular plastic dinner bowl; it has kind of a rough surface. But I will.)I started by choosing mixing bowl that had the same amount of flat surface as his regular bowl, or maybe a little bit more, see picture. (I have a bigger selection of stainless than glass but either would work).I read other reviews, and yes, you have to wet the bottom of the suction cup a tiny bit (note: I used a little SOAP on it first to get any manufacturing oil off of it) and press very firmly until grips tightly - sometimes it even "burps" (my bowl has a ridge in the bottom). I have not had any trouble getting it to stay in place. If it gets dislodged, simply press firmly again to adhere. Did not have to wash it or anything. Not only does it slow down my gobbler, but he worries that the other dogs are going to find out about his magic bowl that keeps supplying kibble from underneath that thing! It now takes him WAY longer to eat than the others (who are also in slow feed bowls LOL) because he has to work at it much more. In fact sometimes he won't leave it because he thinks he might have missed a piece that he can't see & the others might get it. I pick it up after they are all done eating, because he keeps checking back to see if kibble may have magically appeared.(FYI, I have a 20lb dog with a long pointed nose and he was unable to use a small-size standard slow feed bowl, because he couldn't angle his nose enough to get at the kibble. Go to larger slow feed, and it didn't slow him down.) If you want to make it easier with this thing, just use a bigger bowl so he can get his nose under easier. Also, I set the bowl on a rug so it didn't slide as much, but for a really aggressive eater, you could easily put it on a non-skid mat or a small piece of rug pad. Gobble Stopper is much easier to pack than a big bowl when going to Grandma's for Thanksgiving!

Doesn't stick to a stainless bowl.
This doesn't stick to a stainless bowl. I only use it now if my other bowl is in the dishwasher.

Good idea
My first dog had success with this slow feeder. It was so helpful in stopping her fast eating that I purchased it for my new puppy who was also a fast eater. She is more energetic about food and she manages to release the suction of the gobble stopper every time so you have to scoop the bowl up as soon as she’s done eating or else she will chew on the plastic. I’m hoping she grows out of it because it does slow them down.

Arrived on time. Not suitable for large or giant breed dog.
The item arrived when it was supposed to. The item was as described, and would be great for smaller dogs, or weaker dogs.My Irish wolfhound puppy was inhaling his food, as I have a speacially made table for both of my giant breed dogs, only specific sized bowls will fit in the table. For that reason I had hoped this product would work In their own ceramic dishes. My pup would eat enough of the food around the bone that he could grab the bone and pull it out of his dish, rather quickly! It's a good product for smaller dogs, or dogs who are not very strong. But it's not good for a dog who is highly motivated to eat & is strong! He pulled this out EVERY the he ate.We ended up adding water to his food to slow him down instead.

Was hoping for more
Well, my dog was kinda freaked out at first, but did get used to it. Honestly, I used a handful of times but I feel that if it was used and longer my dog would get a sore on it's mouth. Maybe the center core area needs to be a different shape. My dog worked at it so hard, and so fast to go get to the food. The shape of it really irritated her mouth. I would not buy this product again. Perhaps there has been some improvements with it.

Works great for some dogs
I like this enough to buy a replacement for one I've been using for about 2 years now, but it's not a perfect product. I originally tried this with both of my dogs (Beagles) and one of the dogs with a wider muzzle it just didn't work for him (he manages to push it out of the way), but the other dog is the one that really needed it (she tends to vomit after eating too fast) and it works great for her.The one I have now still works, but the little tab that helps you unstick it is starting to wear out after so much use.I would also recommend not washing this in the dishwasher. I had 2 originally and the one that I put in the dishwasher did not stick to the bowl after being in the dishwasher (top rack) a couple of times. Instead of the dishwasher I just run it under the tap and wipe it clean every night as it doesn't get too dirty anyway.
