Together We Rot

This is such a unique book and a great crossover of the two genres. It’s got spooky small town vibes, there’s a chill in the air and plenty of snow on the ground. The romance is cozy and offers a contrast to the dark happenings. I was a sucker for this sweet romance. Some trigger warnings, including parental death, cults, child abuse and bugs. Sensitive topics are covered well and are made accessible to younger readers. The only thing I would say is with it being a YA I would have preferred if the characters were slightly younger themselves, it confused me when I read their ages as I thought they were about 16. Overall the story is immersive and thrilling. I adored all the characters. The pacing was great. It’s a must read YA - any readers of romance should give it a try even if horror is not their thing. I would compare it to The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and The Dead Romantics. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group for an E-ARC. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

Wil is stubborn and lost, her mother just went missing and she has no doubt her ex best friends family has something to do with it. She continues to investigate to prove they did, which is when she ends up helping her ex- best friend escape them in exchange to find the truth about her mother. What unfolds next is something you’d never expect. Can the two work together so save one another? Or will they fall in love and die trying?I heard about this book a while ago and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. The cover really drew me in and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The cover gives you great imagery that actually relates to the story itself, I find not all books have that. this was a brilliant read, fast paced, well written. I liked it wasn’t excessively long. This book was dual POV, I felt that gives an improved way of understanding them both.The chemistry between the two was undeniable, something you could feel straight away. The tension whilst they pretend to hate each other is straight out of an enemies to lovers book, too good 👏🏼

This was quite the fun read. I found myself craving more despite it ending so well. The writer has a great style and I loved a lot of the descriptions. Would love to read more by this author when more books are written.

Together We Rot definitely fits the kind of gothic/spooky vibes I was hoping for. I loved the sass from Wil too. She took no crap (rightfully so), and that’s refreshing from an FMC. Elwood made my heart melt a bit. Their dynamic is the perfect example of the black cat girl/golden retriever boy energy. I was hooked from page one, and really enjoyed this story! Also, the cover is just beautiful! 🖤

I really enjoyed this book.

This story was absolutely amazing from the first page to the last. Word for word this book had voice and prose. The vibes are dark and earthy and the soft boy MMC is perfection! The relationship was so well done. I cannot wait to read what is next for this author!
