re. AMG 2.1A Dual USB Mains Charger PSU.The 2 output ports are definitely different. They are both smart-ports, by which I mean that their voltage changes dependent on what is connected to them (specifically from 5.0V for low-power devices, to 5.2V for high-power devices). The PSU also changes the signalling voltages it puts out on the D+ and D- pins, depending on the port (ie. different for SAM and APPLE ports), and perhaps also depending on current-draw: you can see the D+ and D- pin voltages change when a phone is plugged in). Further, although the "For SAM" port seems to be always powered, the "For APPLE" port only seems to power-up if it recognises something is connected to it. (IE. if you probe this "For Apple" port with a voltmeter, there is no power on the +5V pin UNTIL you connect a phone to it (a Samsung or Apple or..).

A great piece of kit. We bought 2 of these and were very pleased with the quality and style of them. The USB ports are at the front and are easy to plug things into, unlike some that have the ports on top where you have to fiddle around to insert anything (especially if they are plugged into sockets under cupboards. They have a small light that illuminates when switched on that is very useful and they do seem to charge things up quite quickly.Thinking of buying some more now for the Kindles we use in our bedrooms.

Love this dual USB plug, so handy!! As well as cool with the blue lights for the sockets. But after a few years the Samsung socket stopped working for our iPhone. Not knowing if this is an iPhone issue (update which has become more particular with the kind of charge it accepts?) or a socket issue (USB socket has a problem despite light still being on?), we purchased another one and that has the same problem. Not owning a non-apple device that charges using USB, we'll have to wait for someone to drop by with a Samsung to see if it charges on the Samsung labelled USB socket to provide the diagnosis for the problem.

This is a nifty plug and the two usb slots makes it useful for charging all my gizmos at once. The only complaint I have is the blue LED inside the plug when it is on which I feel is a bit unnecessary and annoying in a dark room at night.

Brilliant. My mobile and tablet were both flat as my own charger wouldn't work at all.It arrived at 2.30 pm and by 4pm my mobile was fully charged and an hour later my tablet . Great that I could use both at the same time. Nice and compact and sturdy.

I really like the idea of this - being able to charge two devices from one plug - and most of the time it’s great. I have had problems getting both sides to actually charge, though. At the moment I’m not sure if it’s the device or if there is some other reason because it does work most of the time.

A good compact USB mains charger. I like the output sockets being on the 'face' of the charger rather than under the base, and I also like the blue LED glow when the charger is charging.There were no instructions with the product so why are the two output sockets marked 'For Sam' and 'For Apple'? I assume 'Sam' is short for Samsung but can you not charge Apple products from the Samsung socket? Both sockets are USB sockets and I believe there output ratings are the same. Strange markings.

Very pleased with the charger initially, it charged quickly enough to prevent the battery draining if used while plugged in.HOWEVER - I have discovered that, if my cable gets slightly damaged so that it will not charge my Android tablet properly, the charger also starts to malfunction. It takes a while to degrade until one day I suddenly become aware that charging gets very slow - 5% increase in battery charge took over 2 hours. Then I left it charging overnight (about 9 hours) and the battery charge actually went down from 43% to 26%. I am now looking for a different charger although this one is OK with a good cable, hence my 3 star award.
