Elegant Updated Look Good Customer Service
Here’s my story. 1st I’ll say The Customer Service Department fantastic. I had a few interactions with them several weeks ago 7/13.Shipping could improve but the merchandise wasNicely Packed. At the time of my purchase this desk was going fit $189……. At 1st sight I ordered Immediately. I like the look. Then I read the reviews & 90% of them are accurate. From the legs breaking to the screws or used parts. I put it together by myself & if you do please be in a good state of mind. I got started around midnight I feel 3 to 4 hours taking your time & carefully reading the instructions that’s about how much time I needed & I didn’t use my drill at all. The scariest issue I had was the breaking of the 2nd leg. That was from over tightening . The (A) some are not long enough or they wouldn’t catch properly. If not for superglue. I was about to start repacking. The glue worked great. It’s now about 2am. I let it set for about a hour. I used that time to get more familiar with the instructions . that added about 1 hour & 39mins. After that it was smooth sailing. These were my issues1st Issue some minor parts looked used or could of been part of a return. Only (2) parts were my doors2nd Issue This was almost a deal breaker. The legs can be broken easily, super glued saved me from repacking it. Next are the screws. The (A) onesMany were too short & wouldn’t catch properly. Be gentle when tightening.3rd The 3 cabinet drawers the base is cheap (thin) don’t load them . 1/3 won’t open & close smoothly.I had to go back & tighten down those (A) screws. If not flush they will hinder them from operating correctly. Same issue with keypad tray. The tray works but I didn’t get that smooth feeling but it’s sturdy.I didn’t return the desk. For the price I didn’t think it was too bad, $150 would have been better. #Update I wrote the company these same review. It looks like they lowered the price to $150 & the also gave me a partial refund. This desk is better suited for for a decoration piece and light use. Heavy work, those drawers won’t make it.. #update they lowered the price to $150 wow Can I get that $30 credit?

The worst desk ever to purchase
This desk not only caused many mental breakdowns and me reaching for the bottle but came with broken parts and directions that are completely useless. I spent over 6 hours building this desk with my daughter and she had to fix most of the flawed items. This desk MAKES IKEA LOOK LIKE A WALK IN THE PARK! I would not recommend this desk at all, I never write Amazon reviews because I’ve never had an issue with the items I’ve purchased. My daughter and myself had to call it quits at midnight and still didn’t finish. I genuinely would save your money and buy something useful because this is a hunk of junk.

You be the Judge
When all is said and done, we LOVE this desk. Although it is made from particleboard, it is very strong and sturdy. A few edges of the Formica top are rough, but it's not very noticeable. This assembly was not without its challenges. The cardboard box arrived with a dent in the top and the cardboard was soaked on the ends, as if it has sat in snow or water somewhere. Upon opening the box, the styrofoam between the cardboard cover and the product was crushed. The black back boards for the desk (beneath the styrofoam) were damaged (smashed) from the dent in the top of the box. The styrofoam was not enough to protect the back boards. I'm good at DIY, so I flattened the boards and placed black gorilla tape over the damage, since no one would see the back of the desk. Assembly was a slow process, be patient. The wooden dowels break at the slightest movement, good thing I had extra dowels hanging around the house from other projects. I would suggest to the manufacturer to use steel dowels. The instructions identified incorrect letters for some of the accessories. When you are putting together the drawers, it identifies "C" as the accessory, when it should be "P." Also, when you are putting together the rollers for the drawers, the letter code to identify each roller bar is imprinted in the middle of the bar (white on white) with the corresponding letter, i.e. DL, DR, etc. It is very hard to locate, due to the white-on-white impression. Once that was figured out, I knew how to place the rollers on the drawers. Most of the assembly you have to manually screw the accessories. I tried using my electric drill, but it continually slipped as the impressions and screw holes were very tight. The biggest challenge was securing the bottom to the top from inside the drawers and cabinet. I am not a very big person, yet I had a hard time squeezing myself into the cabinet and drawer opening to secure the screws from underneath the cabinet/drawer openings to the silver cylinders installed on the desktop. Of the eight screws to tighten down the bottom to the top, I was not able to secure two screws as the lineup was crooked. If I was an elf or midget, I could have gone in the opening and rigged things so the screws would fit. This is a very functional desk for a home office and looks great with our other furniture. There were a couple other issues, chipped board or scuffing.

Nice desk, lots of compliments
It took me about 2 hours to put this together myself, which felt like a lot but isn't too bad in comparison. One piece I put on backwards because directions weren't super clear, but it didn't affect its function or appearance because you can't see it. I was shorted 5 screws but was able to distribute the rest to where it didn't matter. Overall it's a really nice, cute and functional desk. I've been getting tons of compliments on it at the office. Just lay everything out and go very methodically when assembling or you'll be frustrated. I would not call this color "Espresso" though, it's very reddish. Maybe mahogany? Or dark cherry?
