Love this hat so much that I’m willing to keep it even if it’s snug! The next size swallowed me up and this one is tight. It’s still a great hat! Kept me dry and was able to get the job done in the rain. Just wish it was slightly larger or had some give. Also - would love to be able to remove the strap when it’s not needed.

I live in the PNW and I needed a waterproof hat. Umbrellas are cumbersome and I live in a place where I walk a distance to my car, so my hands are always full coming and going. This was the only hat I could find that is actually waterproof. It fits well, came in time, and lives up to its claims. The hat band had come loose from its glue and I glued it back down with E600 adhesive and that’s working well. Other than that I’d give it 5 stars.

Outback oilcloth hats are great in the rain. They keep the rain off in stormy weather. It beats putting one of those plastic rain covers on a felt hat, for sure. This Trapper model is the second Outback oilcloth hat I've had. The first one (a different model) lasted for a number of years until one of the dogs slept on it and crushed the oilcloth so it never would go back to its original shape. The dogs won't get a shot at this one.The chin strap is ridiculous because it goes though the hat band and across the top of your head , not around the hat itself. It makes the hat unwearable and won't keep the hat on the way a storm strap should. I don't know what they were thinking about with that. Toss the strap and the hat is good. The elastic hatband takes a little getting used to but it does keep the hat on on the wind, making the chin strap unnecessary anyway.In all, the hat is a good one and my felt hats will not get trashed in the rain. It's a good product.

Pretty much just want to be a cowboy..but living on the east coast, nobody wears "cowboy hats". This hat is a great functional hat that you can make to look more cowboy in style but doesnt always have to.Hat gives good protection from the sun, and the oilskin material is fantastic protection from the rain. I have a full length oilskin coat from this company that's held up amazingly over 2 decades.Hard to say if this hat is "hot" because most times I'm wearing it outside, it's very sunny and also humid. And I sweat without the hat on, I still sweat with it on. But the sweat band does its job well and it's very comfortable when worn over a longer period of time.The brim is moldable and does pretty well to hold its shape that you set it in. That said you can change it, so if you're looking for a different style one day to the next, it is achievable. I've worn this bad boy in the pouring rain and had good water protection everywhere I would expect to from itGreat hat, I have no complaints...other than not being able to wear it out more in this judgemental region I'm in!

Before placing my order, I shopped several similar style hats, and felt confident that the Outback Trading Co Men's Co. Oilskin Trapper Hat was superior in quality to the similar hats, and the fit would be highly accurate. Having ordered with express shipping, my hat arrived just 2 days later (North Conway, NH to Salem, OR).My BDU cap size is 6¾, so I chose Small in Black. The reviews were positive, and the size rating was 86% fit-as-expected. It arrived in the correct size box for the hat, fully wrapped for quality. The fit is definitely accurate. The hat rim has quality stitching, and the hat is stiff enough to keep it's shape. Being as I chose the oilskin, I was concerned that it might get hot in the sun, but the grommeted holes provide adequate ventilation.I have but two minor issues with the hat: First, the leather band was either stuck on with some sort of wax, and thus popped off right out of the package. I keep a small leather tooling kit, so I have sinew on hand to lock the band in place (leather expands and contracts, so sewing it on with sinew will be better than adhering it on). Second, the black leather chin cord was installed completely twisted up, but I'm used to relacing new shoes; I personally think a boot lace/cord might be better, but it's comfortable.In conclusion, if you're looking for a high quality work or adventure hat to keep the sun and rain off your face, I would definitely recommend the Oilskin Trapper Hat by Outback Trading Co. Absolutely perfect. Everything, from product availability, expedient processing, super fast shipping and delivery. Item arrived very well packaged, I really was not ready to find what I found that day because for the price point of this Oilskin Hat I really did not want to get my expectations to high. Simply put, excellence at it's best. It's of great quality and craftsmanship, fits exactly as it should (I'm a Recently retired US ARMY Soldier/260lb/6'tall/my army hat size is 7 5/8 so I ordered the extra large Oilskin Trappers Hat and it fits perfectly. The inside headband is very nice, soft and durable and I have not stopped using it as it's superb for going out to dinner with my family or to wear out in the woods checking areas for my new trapp line, hunting or fishing when I am physically able to go. If you're undecided about this hat "DON'T BE", is totally and completely worth it, you won't be disappointed. I absolutely will be buying a second one for me and another one for my 11y/o Son because he also love's it. My wife love's it as well and keeps telling me that I look Hot, so who knows, you may even score some points with your wife or girlfriend :)Hope this helps
