Q: I'm wondering whether the vertical roaster in the enamel finish is easier to clean than the matte black. Thanks for your opinions.

Hi Emma! That's a good question. I usually grease the vertical piece, mine is enamel coated, and cleaning is very easy. If the matte black finish is also on cast iron, I don't see any reason why it, too, should not clean up with little effort. If you decide to go with the matte finish, I would be very interested in your 'clean up' feedback. I love my Staub Vertical Roaster and I'm sure you will too, regardless of its finish!

Q: Can I use this on the grill?

Yes. It is great on the BBQ. We LOVE it. No more flare ups. Pricey but you get what you pay for. It is STURDY and fairly easy to clean. I’m sure we will use it for many years. Love it.

Q: My microwave has a convection function where it uses hot forced air through the cavity. Can this be used to roast a chicken in there?

Our Staub cast iron is not microwave safe.

Q: How large a chicken can it hold?

It holds at least a 5lb chicken...I haven't cooked one larger than that.
