terrific storyline
The stories always deliver with every book! The author weaves in complexity to the storyline and a lot of color into the characters. There’s always interesting additions in every book, this one notwithstanding.

Another great installment!
"Echoes of Divinity", the thirteenth installation in "Painting the Mists", is quite fun! Admittedly, I've been a fan of PtM since I first discovered it (2019? time flies), and Mr. Laplante grows increasingly skilled with his world-building and character development. Although this does book does continue the trend of Cha Ming and Huxian operating separately, it featured some unusual team-ups that really facilitated character growth. I was pleasantly surprised with this book's environment (a desert, if the cover isn't obvious enough) and the challenges therein. One of my favorite things about each book (and sub-arc, if you like) is that each plot feels important/momentous. When our protagonists have a victory, it's because they've achieved something consequential. And, the experiences they accrue during these adventures go a long way towards developing the characters. One begins to feel that peace between demons and humans is achievable. Plus, each book does a nice job of wrapping up plot threads (e.g. Chekov's gun), while setting the stage for the overarching conflicts.Lastly, while I often find romance subplots insipid, I have been pleasantly surprised by Patrick's handling of these. Something about them appeals to me (but perhaps I'm just being too sentimental), and it's a nice balance to the myriad horrors that populate the cultivation universe. In short, PtM 13 is highly enjoyable, and it avoids the cultivation trap (either cultivating too quickly or cultivating too slowly) by matching Cha Ming up with challenges appropriate for his immense strength. If you've enjoyed the preceding books, then you'll enjoy this one.

it’s all coming together!
First off, huge regards to Mr Laplante whom is mixing genres without hesitation. It’s a pleasure to read. What a great entry in the series, looking forward to the next book.

Excellent series
This has been a very entertaining series. It has managed to hold my interest without needing a break with other books in between. Sometimes the descriptions of carving or rune painting are a little long winded. However, this did not make me loose interest and I did not skip pages. Overall, very excellent! I hope there are many more books in the series. Highly recommended if you like books with a central hero figure and cultivation.

One of the best books in the series
The story takes a better pace, finally focus on the Teo main plots and give The Beast God a decent plot. Finally the hero starts to overcome the fake hero wanna be mood.

An interesting pivot
I liked this one a little more than the previous entries, though there is certainly a saturation of conventional narrative threads I don’t necessarily find appealing. Human qualities and truth from experience are a strength in this genre and there are a few truths nestled in there I can really appreciate were explored. This isn’t my favorite series but I look forward to seeing what these maturing threads end up exploring

Another fine book.
Honestly I think these books are simply getting better. The writing is of a good quality. The characters are interesting. The plots are engaging. And I finished reading way too fast. I should have slowed down rather than reading through in only a few days. Now I have to wait for book 14.

Excellent
Some great character development, although I'm a bit sick of the memories stuff being continuously dragged out. Very excited for the next book.
