Art book with 8-bit video game graphics in big format
This colorful art book contains 8 bit computer game graphics in a big format from start to finish. I think is quite nice. However I did hope for more images of animations, but there are some. I also find the format too big, because some images of small characters are increased to fill out a full page, so I almost want to put the book open several feet from me to better enjoy the images. I bought the hardcopy version, but I would mind a half sized paperback because of this. There is not much text in this book, so if you are looking for more video game history information you must look a other books for this. One this I also found out is that the graphics in this book is from 8-bit video game consoles and 8-bit home computers, and I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher released a book called 16-bit later on. I do like the charming 8-bit graphics from the old days, but I also like the more colorful bigger sized graphics from the 16-bit area which is still charming pixelated graphics, compared to the vector based graphics from the 90s and later on. Anyway, if you can get this book cheap and have somewhere to put this book opened up, so you can watch is while you walk around your office or apartment, this get it. But if you want a lot of background information from a book that is more like an encyclopedia with video game history, the look somewhere else, for instance take a look at the excellent book called "1001 Video Games" or the book called "151 Video Games".
