Christmas shopping or Christmas chopping?
Remind me never to go Christmas shopping with Lady Marjorie and her three friends as this shopping trip was murder. This time however, it was a little too close too home for Lady Marjorie as she and her son hosts a business event. Unfortunately one of the attendants ends up being murdered. who is responsible? A member of her staff? A member of the competing business guests? Leave it to The Fab Four to solve the murder with a little help from new recruit Hercules. Another easy, enjoyable read!

Just the thing for these cold winter nights.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I write this review based on my personal thoughts. This is series about four elderly friends who find themselves at the centre of murder and adventures. The relationships are developing and the humour generated between the characters is very good. This is a seasonal, cosy whodunnit, similar to Agatha Christie at the end with the ‘reveal’. It’s just the thing to curl up with on these cold winter nights. It’s an entertaining, light read with a satisfying conclusion. I don’t want to say too much about the plot or it will spoil it for others. Just buy it, have a good read and make your own mind up. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this festive fare.

A very good read
Well written with many twists and turns. I look forward to reading the next in the series. Only problem is that it keeps me awake as I want to keep reading.

Not obvious who did it until near the end of the book
Thought this book was a better Lady Snellthorpe mystery than previous books.

Predictable and tedious
Sadly the author has used the name Inspector Jack Dawes as a detective in this book , which Frances Lloyd has as her main character in her novels! She even jokes about it like Frances does in her books. I don't think this should be allowed! Jack Dawes and his wife Corrie Dawes have appeared in 10 not Frances' books and they first appeared in 2019! Totally unacceptable that Dawn would take this idea and use it as her own! Very disappointed in her!I guessed the killer immediately. Not with reading until the end!

Great characterisation and intriguing plot
I really enjoyed this murder (as with all the previous ones in this series). The development of the four amateur sleuths' characters and interrelationship is delightful. The story is a 'traditional' doing-in of a not-nice person, and lots of suspects with various back stories and motives. I did not guess the right culprit (but rarely do anyway). I'm looking forward to the next!

love the Characters
Wonderful book the next in series starring these interesting and completely enjoyable characters. I was not able to see how things would work out, which is always a joy.

Wonderful mystery
What a tale of Classy English ladies, a smart rottweiler, a pretentious son with demanding guests and a murder. Lovely!

Highly Recommended
Another great read from Dawn Brookes. Although this is a stand alone mystery I would suggest reading from book 1 or even going back to the Rachel Prince Mysteries where Lady Marjory is first introduced as I love the way all the characters and particularly Lady Marjory’s and her cousin Edna’s relationship is developing. An excellent, light hearted mystery that keeps you guessing til the end, I can’t wait for the next one!

A Good Cozy Read
Grab yourself a cup of tea or drink for your choice, and settle in to enjoy time with delightful and interesting characters. I wasn’t sure how I’d respond to a series with an 80 year primary character and her three companions. Would I fall asleep while reading? Not a chance! Regardless which of Dawn Brookes cozy mysteries I read, I’m quickly drawn into the story, and of course I try to solve whatever mystery is presented. I can’t claim the best success rate of solving Brookes’ crime, or crimes. This author is imaginative and clever with her plots. She also excels in character development. One, somewhat annoying character in this series, had a scene that placed her in a sensitive situation that produced empathy and compassion I hadn’t felt for her before. I felt a true sense of warmth and coziness while reading this book, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Engaging mystery!
This is a well-ordered mystery with interesting characters who indulge in subterfuge. Marjorie and her friends do an excellent job sorting through the lies and misdirection of the business clients staying at her home. This was a very satisfying read!
