Very good.
We've started taking long country walks on a Saturday when it's nice and we take Lily our Cavvie. I am aware of the problems with ticks so I bought this in the hope that I would never have to use them. Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them, right.Well, I was running my fingers through Lily's fur this evening and felt a small lump. I thought it was a polyp at first but on closer inspection I could see little legs. It was a wretched tick! I was a bit surprised has Lily has her Advocate spot-on.Out came the O'Tom twister and I used the larger one (it was a big tick but not a bloated one). I used it as I'd seen in the videos and the miserable creature came out real easy. I checked the little swine with a jeweller's loupe and found that the mouth parts of the foul fiend were intact. Hooray for O'Tom - it worked and it was easy. The tick was dead so I assume that it had survived the Advocate long enough to attach but died shortly after. It could have attached 3 days ago or longer. Being dead it wouldn't have been able to extract itself so there it was, dead and stuck.I put Dracutick between two bits of cellotape and looked at it again through the loupe. Yep, all parts still attached. In the bin Vampiratick went.I did check me and hubby out and we were ok. But I've got some clothing type permithrin spray to proof our clothes.Better safe than sorry.

very easy to use when you are stressed about having a tick attached to you
And even when you are not stressed about having a tick attached to you, you just wonder whether that lump might be a darned tick again, you can still use this wonderful tool and if it's a tick it will come away. Think I just removed a tiny sebaceous cyst From a very difficult place on my body to actually see what it was properly, as there were no legs visible in what came away, but equally it might have been a tick as after I had spent half a day cutting long grass in my garden in fife I could hear a deer barking just the other side of the fence in the field very close, having other nights heard the thunder of deer hooves, and where there are deer there are deer ticks.

Excellent for tick removal.
I have previously used tick tweezers but thought that out in the field these tick twisters might be easier to handle. Just found a very small tick, beneath hair on my dog and tried the small twister. It was just excellent. Easy to slide below the body of the tick, without any risk of damaging the dogs skin. A couple of twists and the tick came away. The tick was alive and moving legs etc, so no mouthparts left behind. Can highly recommend and almost look forward to finding my next tick so I can try them again.

It works well but takes getting used to and not as easy as it seems
So back from the Highlands of Scotland and had the obligatory tick bites! Those little critters! Anyway, you get 2 tick twisting hooks in a box. One for small to medium and one for larger ticks. I found the larger the tick the easier to remove as you get a better grip from the hook. It was a bit harder with the small ones and you do need a steady hand but managed to remove them completely. A bit harder when the tick's head is a bit embedded. You have to push the stick to depress your own skin and gently slide it in place. Sometimes, the twisting action moves the hook too much and you lose grip of the critter. I find using 2 hands, one to twist/pull and one to stabilise the the shaft of the instrument works best for me. Will continue to update and don't forget to check your bites regularly and see your GP for antibiotics if you see any skin rash!

Finally! Tick removers that aren't too bulky.
I bought some of these exact tick twisters from the veterinarian a few years back. One got lost so I tried to find replacements online... but even the same brand (Tom O'Tick - the light green ones) were way too bulky to slide under the tick, and had a thin enough slit to keep the tick in place, while you twist.BUY THE ORANGE ONES WITH THE SILICONE HANDLE. They're great!

Stop researching and buy these.
Found a Tick on the cat yesterday. Read lots of horror stories about not removing them properly and that you need to get them out as quickly as possible to reduce the risk of Tick borne infections so decided to leave it where it was and turn to Amazon for a quick turn around.Ordered these at 9pm following their good reviews and that they were advertised as next day delivery. They arrived by 11am the next day and literally 5 minutes later the Tick had been safely removed.Very easy to use (if you can get the cat to sit still that is) by simply using the right sized tool for the size of the Tick. This one had about 8mm visible so user the bigger of the two provided tools. Slipped the tool across the cats skin so the Tick slid into the groove on the tool and lifted very slightly so I could feel a tiny bit of pressure. I began to rotate the tool through 360 degrees (which is easy with the grip on the handle) and after 2 turns the Tick popped right out mouth parts and all.I’d released a little grip on the cat at this stage so he decided to say thanks by sinking both his claws and fangs in my arm before making a run for the back door but hay, I know he’s grateful really.Don’t hesitate or waste any more time doing hours of research. These things are a brilliant bit of kit so much so I’ve just bought another set to go in my walking kit. Small, light as a feather and takes up no room at all but most importantly, they work.

Too small
The Handle is a bit too short so I found it difficult to grip while twisting it to remove the tick off my cat. There are 2 different sized tick removers in the pack. The smaller does not have a chance to used at all because ticks can normally be noticed when it is big enough to see or feel. I even found the bigger one is a bit too small. After a few trials, I finally managed to remove the tick. Won’t be able to return it because I have used them. Will by a steel one next time or probably a tweezer will do the job better than this.

Facile, rapido, indolore, efficace

Worked much better than expected
Used for the first time yesterday to remove an embedded tick from my dog. Thought it was kind of a gimmick but figured I'd give a try. Worked much better than expected. Tick came out intact with a single turn, no evident distress on the part of my dog. Tip: The downside of pulling out a tick intact and alive is that you have to keep track of where it goes and promptly kill it, or else it will dive right back into your pet's fur.
