Dawn Industries Kwik Cut
The item pictured in the ad is the Dawn Spring Action that returns to the open position after squeezed due to a little spring inside the handle. The one I received is the Dawn Original Kwik Cut (as listed in the description) without the spring that returns it to the open position. Unless you already know the difference then you would be unaware that this is not the spring model. I didn't find this out until after I received it and went to the Dawn website to see the difference. It still works fine and I used it on some 1/2" poly tubing making some nice, quick cuts. Just be aware you are not getting exactly what is in the picture.

Do yourself a favor
I bought this to replace a similar cutter that I cannot find. OK for small stuff and tubing but do yourself a favor and go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a $12 ratcheting cutter like a Kobalt. I did and could not believe how much easier and faster the ratcheting style is to use. I am stuck with this one because of the shipping costs. I will probably give it to one of my daughters.

Best Cutters
These Dawn Ind. black blades far outlast other scissors type cutters that come with a shiny metal blade. The cutting edge on the shiny blades bend up and chip after only one or two cuts on sch 40. These black blade cutters handle up to 1" sch 40 no problem and are handier than the ratcheting type cutters. The old pair finally gave out after many years of use. Glad to see these are still available.

Nice for the price
Not bad for the $$$. I had another one that had a chrome blade that was almost identical but someone "borrowed" it. It is cheap enough to buy 2 so that you have one handy all the time. I use it mostly to cut PEX and nylon. You have to make sure you hold it square (perpendicular) to your tubing or you won't get a usable cut for sealing. If you need to square it up you have to cut a little more off to get it square because of the design.

works as promised, handle leaves your hand hurting
:) read the instructions if you are not familiar with using this kind of product. I bought mine so I can play with pipes with more of a crafting endeavor and not as an experienced plumber. The quality of the item seems well enough. The plastic material that its mostly made of does hurt my hands personally as you have to squeeze the handles. It did work as promise. Only con was my hands would hurt after a few uses.

Its good for a couple cuts
Plastic seems to be a little cheap and like it would break pretty easily. I haven't put it to a rigorous test by any means but what little bit Ive used it I have that feeling. I installed sprinkler systems for many years and would never buy this if i needed it often.

Overall great
I used for a small project, installed a water softener using 1 in PEX pipe. I had about 20 cuts ( re-cut longer pieces) clean cuts, 90 degress with the sharp blade. Also used it to cut plastic hose a few times. Time will tell with long term use, suspect you would need to buy replacement blades. Overall great experience

Great pipe cutters (with some limitations)
Like I said when I reviewed the Reed ratchet cut PVC pipe cutters, these are great for light (200 Series PVC), PEX tubing, drip hose, garden hose, but almost worthless on Schedule 40 or 80 pipe. Been using these and the Reed's for over 40 years. Love them both.
