A Fun And Informative Read For All
I was a young football fan in the 70’s when the Pittsburgh Steelers dynasty ruled the NFL. The Topps football cards of those familiar Steelers players were treated like superheroes, the gold standard. But I’ve learned nothing about Pittsburg since then except for pierogis and Primanti brother’s sandwiches. What I enjoyed most about this very informative book is the care at which the story of the rise of the Steelers is placed within the context of the rise, fall, and rebirth of the city. The author’s reflections of growing up in the city during this time add extra heart to this fun read.

A great read!
I loved this book! I am actually not even a football nut but I loved the history of Pittsburgh and all the backdrop. My husband filled me in on the football part but you don’t have to be a Steelers fan to enjoy the book. It’s fast paced and interesting to read about the rise and fall of the steel industry which mirrors so much of America. Totally enjoyed it!

Not just for football fans
This book pulled me in from the start with the history of Pittsburgh. While I've heard of the famous immaculate reception, I never knew what it was, so it was interesting to read about the events leading up to the play and the play itself. The book is well written, and you don't have to be a football fan to enjoy it.

Not so Immaculate-mostly a history
I thought this book would mostly be about the Immaculate Reception due to the title of the book -but it’s really just another Steeler book that summarizes the Steelers 90 year history. Plus it’s got way too much history about the the city of Pittsburgh (unless you are looking for that). Probably a 1/3 of the book is not even football. Better book title for this story would have been: History of the Steelers and their city.
