Although I have only had this filter for a short while it appears to have a good amount of beneficial bacteria already, this type of media can take some time for the beneficial bacteria to establish but the media in this filter is smaller than the more commonly known size which maybe way it has been able to establish quicker. I must add this filter is not the only filter in the system and I would not advise anyone to use this filter on its own as there is only a small amount of sponge to work as the mechanical filtration, I do like to make my own filters or modifications to improve water quality but as yet I cannot see how more mechanical filtration could be added to this filter - yet.I am a huge fan of the moving bed filters, seeing this one has been designed for aquariums I think this can only improve water quality when it is fully mature. The aquarium depth does have to be at least 18inches/45cms deep to allow adequate space for the water to enter through the bottom and have enough space above to get the full benefit of the air, if there is not enough space above and below the media will not be agitated enough so you end up with water tracking past the stationary media which will cause issues with water quality.Adding this filter to any system will be beneficial but it would be even more beneficial to fry set ups, fry are susceptible to ammonia and this can cause deformaties or death, the fact this filter runs on air and the sponge is the first stage, fry will not be sucked into the filter. If you have an adjustable air flow tap you can get the right amount of air needed to agitate the media without it being to strong to affect the fry.I do think the price of this filter is a bit expensive for what you get, all it consists of is a slotted plastic base where the sponge sits, then there is a small circular air stone attached to the plastic tube where the media sits, there is not a huge amount of media but there does have to be enough room for the media to be agitated enough to have a moving bed filter, then there is the slotted cap to allow the air out, there is also a small piece of plastic where you attach the air line - which is not provided - there are also 4 suction pads to stick the filter to the aquarium and they have not failed as yet and the filter is attached firmly to the back of the tank. It is important to remember this filter does not have a pump and the air pump is not included either.As small moving bed filter for an aquarium is a great idea and will improve the water quality when fully mature, I may replace the sponge for filter floss as I feel the floss will remove more particles from entering so will stop the media from collecting decomposing matter.Although I do feel this filter is expensive for what you get, if you are looking to improve your water quality this will definitely do the job

This is a moving bed fluid filter designed to grow bacteria which in turn complete the ammonia , nitrate and nitrite cycle . Works really well in conjunction with a solids filter (sponges). The air stone generates enough bubbles to spin the media up and in turn draw water in from the bottom. It’ll take several weeks for the media to produce bacteria efficiently and mature , but when up and running it works well, don’t clean the plastic media or you’ll kill the good bacteria

This has kept the tank clear for 5months without us doing anything except water top ups. We have a 30 year old terrapin who eats crustaeceans and stuff so the tank gets very dirty, very easily. This is literally the best filter hes ever had!.....and hes 30 years old! ...it is quite loud though. You can definitely hear it when in the same room. But the pros outweigh the con. Terrapin likes to sit on the air stone in the bubbles. Too funny. Also his other filters hes managed to bash them off the side and use them as platforms to jump out of the tank 😂. This one has remained thoroughly stuck in place, and is the only one that has managed to do so! Thanks x

The media could not be loaded.  Good AQQA Aquarium Filter, easy to use.Good size for my 60L Aquarium, keeps the water clear, but you need to allow it very good time compared with other type of Aquarium filter I have.I believe it can be more like Oxygen dissolver than a filter as it pushes the air from the outside to the water tank which means no continues water is flowing through the physical filter sponger Compared to other filters which takes the Aquarium water through a filtering and return it back to the tank.Considering the functionality this item is expensive although it is doing both minor filtering and Oxygen dissolver.

Really good product !

Noisy, I bought for my 60 litre fish tank and it’s not worth the money at all, doesn’t clean up excess food/poo waste on the surface floor of the tank and the water quality is bitty like, only two of the holes work most of the time better off buying a sponge filter, I rate this product a 0/10 doesn’t do any justice apart from creating oxygen to the water but then again the life plants do most of that work

Das Gerät imitiert die effektive Trommelfiltermethode von natürlichem Flussbettsand und Kies und verwendet ein neues Flussbettfiltermaterial. Durch kontinuierliches Trommeln wird eine schnelle Nitrifizierung ermöglicht. Was mich besonders beeindruckt hat, ist, dass die Filtermaterialien miteinander kollidieren, sich regenerieren und selbst reparieren, ohne dass ein Austausch der Filtermaterialien erforderlich ist.
