As others have noted, these are lined but not overly hot while indoors (if the weather outside is chilly.) I bought two pair last year and they became my go-to pants. I would say outdoors the temperature range is 55-degrees down to the teens. I live in eastern Massachusetts. If you get down to lower temperature ranges you're going to need long underwear in addition to these. The gray goes well with about any colored shirt. I am 5ft 10in, 180 lbs and wear the 33-waist-30-inseam. One great little surprise is the side pocket on the right (below the regular pocket) in which my iPhone fits perfectly. I much prefer these over cargo pants; I think too many pockets look goofy unless you really need them (get a back pack). You barely notice the phone in that pocket (I have to occasionally check to see if it's there) and it fits perfectly! I'm buying two more pair at this moment. If you fold them properly and pretend-iron them with your hand when folding clothes, they look like they've been ironed. I do that several times when their still warm and they look great. shown in photo after wearing several days at work.

I wear a 34 in all brands including carhartt. But with these carhartt pants specially I had to return the 34 and get a 36. Besides that, decent pants. Not to hot but keeps you warm.

I'm an agriculture/ industrial mechanic. These have been one of the best investments for when it gets below freezing. Great durability, warmth but also maneuverability. Most people lean towards bibs to stay warm, but if you're like me and need to get underneath a lot of things and have movement/ versatility. These are great.
