Updated - Choose your shelving with even more care
Updated ReviewAs I was very pleased with my original order of this product, I ordered a second set.Firstly, when you come to write a review and the order status is 'Arriving tomorrow' and you have already received the product days ago and assembled it, that is good. In this case, very good as delivery was indicated as 1-4 May and the product arrived on 29th just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend, excellent service. On the product, there is a small but significant difference between this item and the one I ordered and assembled back in January (review below). The difference is that on the first set of shelves the wooden shelves sit flush within the steel structure, (see pics) However with this unit they sit on top of the steel structure. This is not as neat and makes the edges of the shelves subject to damage. The product description clearly states that the unit comes with "5 PEFC certified wooden shelves that sit flush within the steel structure for greater shelf capacity".As I now have both designs I can say that the original flush-fitting shelves are much better and the design is superior. I would recommend that buyers check that detail out with the supplier, Storage Affairs before ordering. I have found them to be very responsive and will I am sure will assist you.So most of my original review (below) still stands for those units, but for these units, I would have to say the design and therefore the finished unit is not as good.Final comment, shelves came with another mallet, so I now have three ; )Orginal Review.Like many, I researched the shelving options available on Amazon and there are lots.Chose this item based on reviews, price, and availability.I watched a number of YouTube videos on how to put the shelves together and as a result, was able to assemble the first unit in around 30 minutes. I highly recommend watching the videos as they show how simple the assembly process is. The instructions that come with the units (they are on the back of the packaging) are not in English, so the video is essential.I clearly hadn't read the description completely as I missed that the shelving comes with a free mallet (nice quality) and so had bought one separately, but you can never have too many rubber mallets, so no problem. The assembled shelving looks and feels very solid once assembled. The shelves are not particularly thick but seem fine.I was able to build the units by myself without any problems and a minimal amount of cursing as it is straightforward.Top tips: Don't buy a separate mallet as one is supplied, but also don't use a hammer as that will damage the unit.Wear good gloves as the metal is sharp in places.Put the protective feet on the base of the shelving before you fully assemble the units.Go slowly and make sure each tab is correctly located in the slot before using the mallett. When fitting the cross members bending by hand or pliers works best.

Strong, good quality shelving units.
I have paid a lot more for worse shelving in the past! These are great quality and a great price! They even come with a mallet to help assemble them... Though make sure you open that box first! These are easy to assemble and come with connectors to link them together. Each unit is a nice size and easy to handle when empty. When you are building them they do feel a bit wobbly, but as the units go together they tighten up nicely.I would say these are for dry storage and not for damp or wet areas as the wood used is not the best at handling damp. It will be fine if liquid is split on it, just not in a damp garage. Though you could template the shelf and put in something that will handle we areas.I am buying another set of these as they are so good and will use them in the future for any shelving needs I have.

Easily the best shelving unit I have ever purchased.
Easily the best shelving unit I have ever purchased. I have brought previously wood, plastic and metal shelving units and this, which is a mixture is easily the best for the following extra reasons:-Thick metal frame, does not bend easily, takes a lot of weight, but this does make some parts of assembly easier and other parts harder especially as it is heavier-Shelves have a crossbar, which stops shelves from sagging, makes these units stand out from very similar racking systems also sold on amazon-Shelves are mdf and not cheap chipboard or metal, so no marks, plus if you put plastic sheets or coat it with something, it will last an even longer time-Despite it being heavy, you can move the shelves up and down with a mallet and piece of wood (the wood is to stop damage to the paintwork)-Free unit connectors and extra plastic corner protectors which you can use on top, normally you pay extra or pay for them separately-Its boltless, so no screws or bolts, which I have previously used and found it added on quite a bit of time to put shelves together, being boltless reduced assembly time to a quarter, took me 20-30 minutes for each.BE AWARE these units are 90 cm WIDE, not the standard 60 cm. They are also 45 cm DEEP not the standard 30 cm or smaller. Plus, they are 180 cm HIGH not 150 cm, so you might be SHOCKED by the EXTRA SIZE AND VOLUME you can fit. What I did not like is the joke of a mallet but it’s better than nothing which is what you get with all the other similar products with thinner frames, the mallet is free, good quality and can be used for small hobby activities given the small size. I would recommend using a normal / large size mallet and a small piece of wood with a flat head screwdriver, to tap in parts / hooks from the boltless system – as the fit is snug and if you rush it or don’t hammer/mallet it the right way it can get tricky. Two more tips are not to assemble the ‘middle 3’ side bars on one side until the end as the units are tall and it makes it easier to step in and reach! Also, don’t put the mdf shelves in until you have placed the unit as they are heavy enough, why make life harder. These types of items are not for someone who expects shelving unit up in 2 minutes, as it will take at least 20 minutes. Items like these are for DIY or professional use, if you cannot use a mallet or know what a mallet is, then do not buy this! If you have had similar units before, you will easily be impressed with these. My neighbours have come over to look, they were impressed as they look like proper industrial units, well they are but very cheap, so two are planning to purchase them.

Would I buy again? YES
I cant compare to other products though I am very happy with the shelving. Takes time as the sections dont always fit with out a little adjustment, though easy to do, just makes the process a little longer. Easy enough to assemble and now i have done the job I am very happy with the fact you have two halves to the main corner posts, as will be easy to disassemble should i need and this system gives you more options in size and I did in fact change my mind while deciding were to put the units in the garage and ended up splitting one of the units giving me two half units and three tall units. They have and are taking the weight of my very heavy tool boxes and i feel sure they would hold more should I have the need. All in all I would happily recommend the units and having shopped around for some time I believe them to be very good value indeed and Yes I would buy more.
