The Rest of the Story was a Monday-through-Friday radio program originally hosted by Paul Harvey. Beginning as a part of his newscasts during the Second World War and then premiering as its own series on the ABC Radio Networks on May 10, 1976, The Rest of the Story consisted of stories presented as little-known or forgotten facts on a variety of subjects with some key element of the story (usually the name of some well-known person) held back until the end. The broadcasts always concluded with a variation on the tag line "And now you know the rest of the story."From its inception, the scripts for the series had been drafted and the broadcasts produced by Harvey's son Paul Harvey, Jr., who in later years of his father's career also acted as a substitute host. Some of the radio stories were published in book form as The Rest of the Story and More of The Rest of the Story. (On the back cover of More of the Rest of the Story, the book is said to contain "True mysteries from history".) Includes 663 Episodes! This is an MP3 CD-R and NOT an audio CD. I was excited to get this CD of the Paul Harvey programs. 'The Rest of the Story' was so popular for many years and I especially wanted to hear one in particular. Unfortunately it was not on the CD and it was important to me because I was 'The Rest of the Story' in the 1980's.

Just What I Had Been Looking For
I saw that some buyers gave less than stellar reviews regarding the sound quality. That isn't an issue with my copy at all. I bought this as a Father's Day gift for my husband, and after checking the sound for myself, I uploaded the mp3 files to his computer the day it arrived. It was the only thing he had mentioned wanting that seemed like it might actually surprise him! It was a success! He was surprised and really pleased. Despite the seller's disclosure that it wouldn't, I went ahead and checked to see whether it might play on his car stereo. And of course it did not, but I still hope to find a way of converting the files so I can burn him a CD that will. Now, even though a lot of the tracks are labeled with the name of the person the story is about, if you aren't watching your player go from one selection to the next, you can still be surprised with the ending. And even though CDs are rapidly becoming dinosaurs in technology, loading the mp3s onto your portable devices shouldn't really be that big a drawback for most. SO, all that said, "Two Thumbs Up", and personal thanks to the seller who made this collection available; and at such a reasonable price!!

This was his radio show not just the excerpts of “the rest of the story” had all the ads he did, news commentary etc though

Great Product. Great Price!
This is exactly as it is described. It has MP3 files of the old Paul Harvey radio shows. The sound quality was fine. In fact, the sound is much better than many old radio show recordings we have collected.We use the same software on our contemporary computer that we use to play music, to play the files.Thanks so much!

Nice historical piece
Loved Paul Harvey. Nice to have a collection of the “Rest of the Story”, but the quality of recordings is not great.

Oh- the title says AUDIO CD- but is REALLY NOT-
Horrible Audio- TOP BILLING SAYS AUDIO CD -even though in the small print is says only plays on a computer - it must be one of those computers from 1980 as it is horrible audio even on my two computers. AND it is full of LONG advertisements of the day if you can hear the muddled words of those talking behind the static of the background. I have better 78 records than this stuff.. I came here to here 'the rest of the story' as it was advertised and not a bunch of long period advertisements and news articles when I could actually hear what was being said!
