Robust, simple design, does exactly what you'd expect. Love it!

I was looking for a toaster that would:a) Not fall to bits in less than 20 yearsb) toast the first slice of bread the same as the 10th slicec) toast 1 slice of bread the same if inserted alone or along with 3 other slices.d) have no software-controlled anything inside; no LCD displays, no beeping - must simply toast bread.The Dualit comes pretty close to meeting these requirements. It's very solid indeed and I reckon it would easily last 50 years. It's very fundamental in its operation. It has a switch to select 1, 2, or 4 slices and a clockwork timer. Each unit is hand made and carries the name of the person who made it. My one was no. 43 in 2015 and was made by Harry. It harks back to the days when UK products were known for quality and durability around the world.I found that it initially needed about 10 toastings to 'bed in'. During this running in period the 1st slice did not always toast the same as subsequent slices, and I was apprehensive of the toast repeatibility.But that lasted only.about a week. Now a couple of months down the road it is very repeatable. For fresh bread I always set the clockwork timer to the round dot slightly beyond the '2' mark and it comes out very much the same from slice to slice. For frozen bread it requires a pre-pass at the 'snowflake' setting, followed by a 20s wait before normal toasting (as per the manual). Do not omit this wait period - it seems to be important for achieving the desired result.I have confidence that if I put in a slice of bread I can safely turn my back without worrying if the toast is going to suddenely catch fire and stink up the kitchen.Definitely recommended for people who like solid, well-made stuff.

Expensive for what it is. I know it is good quality and although I ordered the Vario what was delivered said Classic on the box. Not much different as far as I can see. It makes lovely crisp toast which I love. Generally the no 2 setting is enough but you need to take type and staleness of bread into account as well as thickness. Does not pop up when ready just switches off. You can leave the toast in to keep warm. Once again the instructions on this toaster as with the kettle were a bit odd. Always unplug? Who ever does that. Switch plug off at the wall yes but I can't fathom why you need to unplug it. May be a warranty issue again if you don't however it is very sturdy and I don't expect anything to go wrong with it given it will probably only be used once a day. Nice looking toaster and the most evenly toasted bread I have ever had from a toaster.

I have wanted one of these for a king time, and now I have it I am definitely not disappointed. Looks brilliant, exactly like the toasters in the cafe from years ago, and it works exactly as you would expect.

This is a well made toaster, good quality , looks good and would probably last for years to come. Your paying a lot of money for a name as there are more cheaper toasters with better features out there, this is purely manual. There is a lot of (Burnt toast) trial and error to get the right timer setting to get the toast the way you like it, because the lifting mechanism is manual you can lift your toast up to see how burnt it is. Once the timer does stop you manually lift it out and your done.If you have the spare cash and you want a good British brand in your kitchen that looks good then buy it.Or you can buy a cheap one that you can preset your preferred toast setting and forget it and automatically pops your toast out when its done and has more features then you can throw it away in a couple of years and buy a newer more efficient one.

After looking at loads of toasters we chose Dualit....we'd seen it in action at our daughter's house, and read many favourable reviews. It is pricey, but if it lasts as promised it will be well worth it. It is easy to operate, the style is fine and goes with our kitchen decor. So good to have a substantial piece of equipment - I had to hold down our old toaster at one side while depressing the toasting lever at the other end. This one's design means there are no problems with that, and it is great to be able to very simply elevate the toast to check on its progress...one can always have the desired level of browning.

I am delighted with this new dualit toaster. I can easily adjust for the number of slice of toast and I like the manual lift. I also like the availability of replacement heating elements.

No es un producto barato para que al cabo de un tiempo falle el temporizador y termine quemando todas las tostadas.Cualquier otra marca tiene más calidad. En esta ocasión me dejé llevar por el diseño y asumiendo que por el precio que tiene, duraría muchos años. Una pena que no haya sido así.El vendedor no ofrece ninguna solución con la reparación

Das ist der "Panzer" unter den Toastern. Hier ist alles geschraubt, nichts nur eingeschnappt oder auf die Schnelle vernietet.Kein automatischer Auswurf, eine simple Hebelkonstruktion tuts auch. Keine Elektronik, ein Wahlschalter für 1/2/4 Toasts, und eine simple mechanische Schaltuhr.Das Resultat zählt, und das ist sehr befriedigend. Gleichmäßige Bräunung in kurzer Zeit.Der wird mich wohl überleben.

Love the toaster, I use it everyday. Problem is I ordered it through Amazon.com.au but received a toaster with an English power plug. Looks pretty silly with the adapter on it.
