Good film, shame about the false advertising
Like others, I feel there has been some false advertising here. The sneak peak of Fifty Shades Darker is literally a few seconds and more or less just shows Christian putting on a mask. I've found the unseen option but haven't been able to watch yet due to having a faulty DVD. It keeps freezing and going back to the beginning, and even though each time I pressed the unseen option the end result was the same at the cinema. This may be down to the faulty DVD and so I'll wait until I have my replacement before I can comment further on that.As for the film itself, we waited a long time for it be made ... and and yes it was worth it. Dakota and Jamie do a fantastic job as Ana and Christian, and the whole film is put together really well. As with all books which are turned into films, there are slight differences, changes to scenes and scenes omitted etc, but I personally don't feel that anything significant has been lost. (Yes, I did read and loved the books.)Dakota catches Ana's initial innocence really well, while at the same time keeping her spirit (one of things I liked about the character). I particular enjoyed the scenes where she challenges him about the contract, some of these are funny. The humour from the book is retained, which I was pleased to see.Dornan is a pleasure to watch, extremely attractive (without his beard) and a convincing Christian in my opinion. The bewilderment at his feelings for Ana and then his switch into dominant Christian are convincing. The film focuses more on the story of the relationship rather than the sex, and the sex scenes when they do come are very well depicted, sensual with more hinted at that than the graphic scenes that some might expect. Perhaps this is down to the excellent female director, as I'm sure it would have been different with a male director. If you enjoyed the books give it try - and ieven if you didn't. There is so more to this story than the sex, and it really isn't about domestic abuse. BDSM relationships are consensual with safeguards in place, and the submissive is actually the one in the partnership who holds the power. Ana consents willingly throughout, so definitely not domestic abuse. Christian even checks with Ana that she knows her safe words in one scene.Apparently they're going ahead with Fifty Shades Darker and Freed, and I for one can't wait.

Love, love, love!
I waited such a long time to see this and I sat grinning like a complete idiot as I watched it. I was so pleased that the film didn't focus on the sex but more on the journey that both Ana and Christian embarked on. Dakota Johnson was brilliant and portrayed Ana's character really well. Jamie Dornan wouldn't have been my choice as Christian, but he too captured the essence of the character really well. For me, it's one of the best love stories ever and it has taken over from 'An Officer and a Gentleman' as my favourite film of all time. I've read all the reviews complaining about how it's more M&S than S&M, if that's what people were looking for then I would say they've truly missed the point of the story. As for reports that there's no chemistry between the two lead characters, I wouldn't agree with that either. You could see Christian battling with feelings he'd never experienced before and the naïve Ana, desperate to learn about Christian and love. It was a lovely story well told, laced with turmoil, anger, romance and even one or two little snippets of comedy.I can't wait for FSDI loved every second of it and I can't wait for FSD.

Frustrating !
This has to be the most frustrating film that I have ever seen I loved it and I hated it Obviously,an awful lot of the book had to be left out to fit into the running time, but it should not have been at the expense of the storyline It was crucial to have kept the info in the long email Ana sent while on her way to Georgia, and Christian's response Everything, pretty much, that explained why he is the way he is,was left out The only token piece of info was said to Ana while she was asleep ! Anyone watching the film who had not read the book would think he is selfish, maybe a bully,a control freak for the sake of it When he is not God,it was frustrating ! Having said that, think Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were perfect casting The red room scenes were better than expected The criticism of Jamie Dornan ,saying he was stiff, too self contained etc in the playing of the role is totally unfair That IS Christian I thought he nailed it Anyone expecting more red room scenes in the unseen version will be disappointed,There is a brief extra scene when Ana gets on the plane to Georgia and the alternate ending ,which is truer to the end of the book

Great Film Worth reading all the books
Having been given the first book I had it for ages not wanting to read it as I thought it would be awful, oh how wrong I was went out and got all the other 3. Also bought the DVD which is much better than I thought, I agree with others that less is more and didn't want to watch anything more explicit. Its such a sad story and reading Fifty Shades Darker I got really emotional, anyway I have now read all the books twice, watched the film many times and just love it. Can't wait for the other 2 films.I must admit I wasn't keen on Jamie Dornan at first as I had visualised what I thought Christian would look like but having watched it again i think he was a good choice and Dakota is perfect in the role.My favourite scene is when Ana first sees Charley Tango it was so romantic and the music was perfect. My advice would be don't be put off by all the hype about the sex contents of the books in my opinion its a lovely love story and at times very sad.
