Burns hot and easy to light
The lumps we received were HUGE, we actually had to break some up with a hammer to fit in the BBQ. They were easy to light and burnt very hot. I felt they didn't last as long as expected, however we will try again as we might have had too much air flow. Really good quality charcoal.

A blaze of glory for a successful BBQ
Honestly, I felt compelled to leave a review after seeing others. For me, I’ve got to say this is some of the best Lumpwood charcoal I’ve bought due to the size of the pieces and longevity in burning time. For this works really well with not just Restaurant Grade Charcoal, but so well with smoking wood of all types. It’s been said that it’s hard to light, but for me I found if you use 3 natural firelighters spread amongst your coals - you’ll be up and running in no time.*If you struggle to light your coals, use an odourless firelighter (the ones made in Denmark work best for me.

Great if you want high heat
These catch quickly, last a really long time, and produce a TON of heat. These got hotter than any charcoal I've ever used, and if that's what you're after, then you'd be hard pressed to find better. The only slight drawback is that they produced papery, whispy ashes as they disintegrated that floated up and landed on food. Other than that, very nice.

Long ?Lasting with a High Heat
Using natural BBQ lighters the charcoal started to burn quickly much faster than Aussie Heat Beads. I actually put fewer lumps of charcoal than advised for the COBB with the BBQ kit just to see if the claims were as good as in the description. First of all the heat given off by the charcoal is high, and it lasts, I got 3 hours out of the 6 lumps of charcoal, which as far as I am concerned on a BBQ is really good. The heat even when the charcoal had virtually burned down was still good to cook on, well bangers anyway. The images show lighting to cooking and the results were perfect. There is no doubt I will buy these again. I noted that in some of the reviews that the packaging was mentioned as being damaged, this was delivered in perfect condition with the charcoal inside an plastic liner inside the box. The other notable point in 1 star reviews was that the charcoal did not last long, well simply I personally do not believe that, this is really good quality charcoal that lived up to the description in my case.

Awesome stuff after a few practice runs
Really really good charcoal. It takes a bit of practice to get it right, but when you do it’s great stuff to use.I find the best thing to do is to fill up a chimney starter with coals broken up into fist size pieces, about 3 logs worth. Lay another 3 long logs into the bbq unlit. Then pour the hot coals over them. This way you get good high heat to get the bbq/smoker up to temperature and the long logs will then burn slowly and maintain temperature.Sure enough after 8 or so hours, they are still going and could go on for easily 10+ hours. If you are only using for burgers/sausages/basic grilling then 1 chimney of coals broken up into fist size pieces will be plenty. You may not even need a full chimney. What’s also great is that it doesn’t cover your hands in tons of black soot, doesn’t produce a foul smoke when lighting and not much ash.Simply put , it’s great stuff. Definitely buying again.

Easy to use
I have bought many boxes of this type of charcoal. It's easy to light, just stand pieces up in a chimney starter and use which ever fire lighter to light it. It takes 25 mins approximately for it to be ready to use. I have used this on my offset smoker and my Cypriot Foukou which is amazing to cook on. The charcoal lasts for around 6 hours I use a full chimney. I highly recommend these, it takes a couple of goes so you know how much to use. I have barbecued since I was first shown in the 1970s as a child by my father here in the UK. Give them a try. I am a semi retired Head Chef.

Not quite what it is said to be
One of the problems with this is that it is a 4kg bag whereas virtually every other product on the same page is 10kgOne of the answers to the question of the bag size reports that it is a large bag because the pieces inside a large lump wood charcoal - well that was certainly not the case with my bag the largest piece I had in the bag was about the size of my hand and there were very few of these. The bag was full of small tiny pieces best described as charcoal shrapnel.Over the holiday period we wanted to use it so we did and it burned reasonably well but beware this bag is 60% smaller than just about everything else on the same page and it is almost the same price as the 10kg bags but I chose it because it had an Amazon Recommends ticket on it but I won't be making that mistake again.

Takes forever to light
Hollow rod charcoal, burns very long once alight and good heat, not too much smoke but takes around 45 minutes to start to burn properly and loads of repeated firefighters. Good quality product but personal choice, for me I am not patient enough to wait for the burn time. Quality packaging, loads of charcoal and good size pieces.
