It was a gift for a little girl for her harimka doll so can not be sure but at least 20+ large pieces.

Q: Would this be suitable for making jam jar covers ?

I don't see why not. Some of the pieces may be too thick and some pieces too narrow but on the whole you should be fine.

Q: Is all the pieces the same type of material

In the pack I received all the pieces were of differ not types of material including lace, striped, plain, floral and a velvet look alike. Good luck

not very big, although it depends what you want to make with them. the biggest piece was 1ft 2ins x10ins the smallest was 4ins x51/2ins.
