Straight Shooter: A Memoir of Second Chances and First Takes

Great Autobiography
Stephen A. Smith tells it like it is. There is no holding back on the TV and on this book. He often criticizes himself in the book, not just others. I really never watched him that much (because I don't watch much TV), but from time to time, I would catch a video or a part of his show, and would think, "this guy is interesting". He is also interesting in the book. Like him or hate him, I think that you will still like this book.

Steven A as his usual candid self
I like hearing Steven A Smith's takes on ESPN. I may not always agree but I usually understand his reasoning. This book is well written and I found myself most enjoying his description of his relationships with his Mother and sisters. He was also very candid about his mistakes and how he learned from them. I am probably a bigger fan after reading this.

Great read if you love sports and figuring out how the people who are the MJ of what they do get it done. SAS is that guy in sports talk. He’s the best, and to see the walls he had to rip down to get there is highly motivating. If he can do what he did despite his massive obstacles, it’s time to reconsider one’s perceived “limitations”. Extremely inspiring and highly motivating as well as just a fascinating read. Loved it.

Definitely A Book Worth Checking Out
“Straight Shooter” by @stephenasmith is a great read whether you are a fan of Stephen A. Smith or not.I have always respected @stephenasmith opinion & insight but never found myself being a fan or follower. After reading this 📕 & getting a glimpse into his life & background I could potentially call myself a fan of his & will probably incorporate his “Know Mercy” podcast into my routine.@stephenasmith definitely had a lot of challenges in life to overcome & his push to keep moving forward is worth learning about.Definitely a 📖 worth checking out.

Great Read - Even for Someone Not Totally Into Sports!
This book by Stephen A. is very good. It is a biography of his personal and professional life. The story starts with an account of his growing up in difficulty, and having a loving, faithful mother and great siblings. His young life through young adulthood was particularly interesting for me to read.I am not a sports fan, except for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don’t watch First Take (ESPN) but I did see Stephen A. on Hannity (Fox News) and he peaked my interest in this book.I appreciate that he is a loving and caring dad. Spoiler alert: In my opinion, he waits far too long in the book to thank the women who gave him his daughters. As he admits, he is fearful of commitment and based on his youth, it is easy to understand, but it is unfortunate because commitment to a permanent mate definitely is a blessing but also develops character! Not having this type of relationship as a means of avoidance is selfish. (That said, I don’t advocate staying with an abusive mate.)I didn’t always agree with Stephen A. and how he went about things, but he has my respect for perservering, reflecting, being contrite when needed, and being thankful. His success in his professional life has reached into the stratosphere. I am happy for him. It seems like he has worked tirelessly to “arrive.”He is real, albeit a tiny bit spoiled. Celebrities have so much! He mentions by name many of the people who played a significant role in the various times of his life. Not being up on sports and entertainment, many of them were not familiar names to me - no matter, the appreciation and thankfulness came through!Even though I have pros and cons listed, I would still highly recommend this book. It was a very interesting read. Good job, Stephen A!

The book is an authentic read.
Every book is a personal journey because we are reminded of our life path, both ups and downs and how events external to ourselves shape us. It takes a lifetime of trials and experiences, both joy and sorrow, to elevate our comprehension of what is truly important. And we do not walk alone.

If you like sports - read this.
If you hate the man, if you love the man, if you don’t even know the man - read this book. Stephen A Smith talked wonders about lessons he learned within his life as an individual, that we all can learn from.

Very good book, inspiring at the same time. Nice to get a personal view from an individual that talks sports all day long.
