Excellent product, at an affordable price - it lasted me over a year before it became too blunt to use
This is a good quality can opener, at a very reasonable price. I paid £4.24 for mine (postage free), and it was supplied by IDEAL_DEALS (Marketplace Dealer). It feels solid, and it is easy to use - I don't have a lot of strength in my hands, but even for me, the leverage is good, and it cuts though the rims of cans very easily, just as if it is slicing thin cheese. It has also been washed several times, and up to now, it shows no signs of corrosion, unlike other can openers I've purchased in the past, which have started to show spots of rust after only a couple of times in the dishwasher.NB: I've only been using it for a few days, and even at this low price, I would expect to have at least 6 months rust-free, trouble-free use out of it, so I will update this review if I experience any problems.UPDATE (July 2015): no sign of rust after well over 6 months of regular use, often left overnight in the dishwasher after the end of the cycle.FINAL UPDATE (March 2016): it's still rust-free, but has now become too blunt to use, so I've thrown it away. Still, that's over a year, and twice as long as I expected it to last, so I'm not complaining.

Cheers, Tin Man's crying now
I mean, it's a tin opener. Not really sure what to write here other than that it opens tins, and does so effectively with minimal fuss.I could rate the bass - inadequate - or the way the light glints off the steel - pretty - but you just want to know if it opens tins. It does. With gusto.

Excellent but not forever
It is maybe an endorsement that I've recently re-purchased. The last one lasted 2 years. I'm not sure of the lifespan of a tin opener and I suspect its life was cut short by my trying to open a notoriously difficult to open tinned pie brand. That tin was the only failure up till then. It proved a sturdy and reliable tin opener on the whole and only recently and weeks after that tinned pie, gave up the ghost entirely (even after tightening up). It has been a great budget can opener. Smooth enough for me. Not effortless but I've managed with some arthritis in my fingers. Worth the £6 to £7 odd to replace. If you eat a lot of famous branded tinned meat pies though, you'll need something more industrial grade, perhaps an angle grinder.

Does what it says on the tin! Be careful where you buy!!
It isn't very often that you need a tin opener these days, with the prevalence of ring-pull tins that there is now. But when you do, this one is great. There is a fad now for tin openers that cut around the side and take the whole top rim off. Some say this is better because "there are no sharp edges". Really? We had one of these. It never worked very well, the wheel didn't grip the tin very well so it slipped, and when tins are very full, it is inevitable that you end up spilling some of the contents. And the resulting topless tin seemed pretty sharp to me.So I was very pleased to see this opener is from the traditional old school of just cutting around the inside of the top, not the sides. It does it very easily and smoothly too. Yes, the edges are sharp, what do you expect? But you can stop just before you completely cut the lid off, bend it open, pour the contents out, and then bend the top inside. No separate sharp lid in the recycling bin, no nasty exposed sharp top on the tin.Solidly made, big chunky handles which don't fill with water when you wash it, and it works. That'll do for me.UPDATE: I think I understand now why a few people think this is so bad. When I bought it, I ordered direct from Amazon, and it arrived in proper retail packaging. My wife has just bought another of these (we needed another one, nothing wrong with the first one!) and she bought from a seller - Bargain Hut in this case. The opener arrived with no retail packaging whatsoever, wrapped in a bit of grubby bubble wrap, and is clearly not a genuine Kitchen Craft product. The handles and winder are different shapes to the picture, and the construction is clearly a cheap clone rip-off of the genuine item. It just feels cheap and loose and flimsy when compared to the real thing. But if you have nothing to compare it with, how could you know? You wouldn't think there was much money to be made in counterfeit tin openers, but it seems someone thinks otherwise.

Does the job... only just
Not great. Seems to cut the runs eventually but as you spin it always seems to spin around and skip each time. It eventually gets around the tin but wouldn’t say it’s great. It feels nice and strong though so had it of worked well I feel it would last a long time but unfortunately it’s not that great. Seems harder to find a decent tin opener these days

Been using these for years
This is the third of these that we have had in a busy family kitchen. It appears the first lasted 7½ years and the more recent one just under 4 years. Still, at £6.99 a reasonable price for something that is going to last a reasonable length of time and be easy to use. Cuts in the traditional location inside the lid, unlike some nowadays that cut the whole top off leaving a sharp exposed edge.

Can opener
This is the modern post covid version of the one that kitchen aid supplied a few years ago, no longer made in Germany , china now of course ! and way more flimsy, however it seems works ok longevity will be the issue.
