Nine years almost to the day
I bought seven of these bulbs 12th of October 2009 and now after almost exactly nine years the first one has failed. Yes they are slow to come to full brightness, but I consider this to be a plus point.I paid almost £11 a bulb, so I consider that I have more than had my moneys worth. I was a little shocked to discover that the price had gone up so significantly in the intervening period. A shame as I was so impressed I was looking to buy them again. But the rise in purchase price means I'll be looking for an alternative, although since there are similar items for sale by the same manufacturer on Amazon I think I'll show a little faith in them and give them a go

Takes a long time to warm up
Not the worst warmup time in the world, but still very noticeable.Personally I use these in an ensuite bathroom, where it's quite nice to start dim if you stagger in bleary-eyed in the middle of the night, so I don't really mind. It seems very hard to find fast-start R63 energy savers, sadly.

Good, but are quite dim when first switched on.
Some compact fluorescent lamps seem to be very dim for the first couple of minutes and then come up to full brightness: others seem to have less of a contrast between initial and final light output. These lights are definitely in the first category, but to be fair they do come up to full brightness fairly quickly. I have three that have been in use for around a year with no problems so far. These lamps are rated at 11 watts: it is unusual to find compact fluorescent lamps over 7 watts in R63 fitting. Although this does give a more useful amount of light, I don't think they can be pedantically described as the equivalent of a 60 watt GLS bulb - more like a 45-50 watt bulb at most perhaps! But then most manufacturers quote pretty optimistic light output levels when comparing CFL with GLS bulbs.

Megaman R63 11w Spot Bulb
It's good that these more unusual bulb styles are now available in 'low energy' format. However, the amount of light coming from this bulb is noticeably less than from the old filament bulbs. I'd suggest buying a more powerful bulb than you think you will need (eg 15w rather than 11w).
