Q: How is the iron's cable stored, the image doesn't show this?

The cable is coiled round the top of the holder and the bottom of the iron.

Q: can you put the hot iron on this

Yeah - you can. Although I actually don't use mine now since there is now where for the cable. When rapped round the bottom of the iron (like most are designed) it doesn't fit in the holder. If you happy for the cable to sit rolled dup underneath - you'll be fine as this does exactly what it says on the tin !

Q: Will it fit a Russell Hobbs colour control iron with ceramic soleplate?

I can tell you that our holder comfortably and securely accommodates a Philips Easycare 3220 with ceramic sole-plate of just under 120 mm. My assessment is that it would be flexible enough to enclose a slightly larger iron - perhaps up to 125 mm. The Minky has proved ideal for our requirements. It has a cable guide-lip at the pointed end and a cable clip along the right flank which helps to keep everything tidy. We're very pleased with it.

Q: Does the whole of the back of the iron holder lay flat against the wall/door ?

Our iron was too big for this so we returned it and bought the IKEA Vareria - from -Amazon instead. this is wall mounted and more suitable
