Fiddely as hell to put together but substantial enough once fully assembled.
First off - these shelves aren't heavy-duty anything: the Meccano set I had as a kid actually consisted of more substantial pieces of flimsy metal - and the edges of these things are quite sharp, the manufacturers thoughtfully provide minimal protective gloves for a reason - you will need something to protect your hands. This being said, once fully assembled you end up with very lightweight shelving that actually supports a reasonable degree of weight - I used bought these to store boxes of books, and they hold up well, a bit rocky if you knock them but perfectly serviceable for the purpose built. The problem generally is assembly - it isn't really till you've got a couple of shelves up that the thing retains enough structural rigidity to not spring apart in the corners - the design requires downward weight to hold the little tongues of thin stamped metal in the appropriate slots they're meant to sit in and stay there.Until you have sufficient downwards weight, the structure just wants to pop apart and often does. There are struts that sun across the middle of each shelf which support the very thin sheet of smooth sided hard board that is the shelf - it's important not just to bend the tabs on these 45 degrees so as they go through the appropriate slot on the long-length they attach to. Once through you have to bend them a second time back over on its self otherwise they slide straight back out.Don't worry - they will keep doing this until you figure it out, the instructions aren't particularly clear on this point. But these gripes aside, for the price, they're actually perfectly okay - NOT heavy Duty by any stretch of the imagination, but considerably more sturdy with weight on them.Other than a flat headed screwdriver to help pry the occasional metal tongue back - you won't need any other tools other than possibly a rubber mallet to help make sure ever things tapped down and firmly slotted.Good for the price just, like I say, a bit fiddley to assemble at the start - once you've done a couple of layers you're golden - it's just getting there probably will have you expressing the odd consonant here or there. Not heavy duty though.

Great, and bigger than expected
Bought this for storing paint and tools on in my kitchen everything was in an old lasn mower box. Our shed has had its day, so we are keeping all the little things in the kitchen through the winter till we can buy a new shed after Christmas. This is huge, it's much bigger than expected, and think it's great. It was easy to put together, because my son made it 😂 but he did say it was relatively easy. The shelves are not as think as I expected but definitely hold plenty of weight.Be careful as some edges are a little sharp, wear the gloves provided if they fit, as thee are really small

They just slot together
They literally just slot together, the only think would advise is to bring a pair of pliers as well as a screwdriver and a mallet, I didn't have a mallet so I gingerly used a hammer, also make sure the screwdrivers flathead is thin because some of the tabs are hard to get it under. One last thing, if you are building these into the 5 shelf there are 4 brackets that hold the 2 units together, once you fit those bend a couple of the tabs else it's very easy to lift the top section off when moving the shelves into position. They are pretty sturdy but I'd not put anything heavy on the upper tiers they are afteall the cheapest shelves on Amazon

Flimsy and awkward if you are not very careful
Flimsy and awkward to construct. I would have returned them but after the ordeal of erecting them couldn’t face dismantling them. I particularly got them for heavy books but I don’t have confidence that they will support the stated weight. The mdf shelf material is a joke- literally like cardboard. Very disappointing.*** EDIT: I’ve hit the joints HARD with a rubber mallet and they seem sturdier now and I am going to replace the mdf with something thicker. They should have been fit for purpose straight out of the box though

Good
I put some of these into the shed. Despite a solid floor, they really do need screwing to a wall to remain stable, but there are plenty of holes in the metal to do that. The MDF shelves are a bit flimsy - they work fine so long as you spread the weight across them, but don't expect miracles (either double up the MDF, or cut some thick ply to make super-heavy-duty shelves).Getting them together is pretty easy, although it's also very easy to get the 'ears' into the slots at a sort of angle so that they only go through the top of the slot and not the bottom (to resolve: bash it out and bend the 'ear' straight and try again). Even though it's not too hard to bash them in and out by hand, I'd recommend a rubber mallet for the job. They come with little plastic feet to go on the top and bottom of the uprights - good luck getting them to stay on the top though. Also, the shelves are obviously adjustable, but you more or less have to have one in the middle (or two very close together in the middle) because the uprights come in two pieces and need something to keep them straight. All in all, these have been great - the shed is tidy (you'd be amazed how much space shelves can create) and the spiders have a climbing frame.
