Easy to Install and Working Great
Just installed this item and it is working perfectly and therefore I am pleased, having returned another brand which failed on day 1.The instructions are essentially useless and you should disregard others comments regarding wiring and grommets etc as these users obviously have no basic electrical DIY skills whatsoever and perhaps should not be fitting a simple sensor switch themselves.I have mounted my unit contrary to pictorial instructions on a porch ceiling - i.e. upside down with the sensor rotated to a parallel position pointing at my drive. This means you have no direct access to the 3 controls but that doesn't matter once the unit has been set up. The PIR swivels on its mount so if you need to make an adjustment that is not a major problem but you need to note the angle of pointing beforehand to return it to its ideal position. The range is great and I will need to lower the sensitivity as it is picking up passers-bye on the main street. With a two year warranty this is a great buy and I have just ordered a second unit which will be wall mounted for another light. I am using LED lights and there are no issues whatsoever. If the unit is mounted on a wall as intended as shown in the picture you will have easy access to the 3 controls. My first installation is unconventional but I wanted a ceiling mounted sensor and this seems to work just fine.

Byron Elro ES90 PIR Motion Detector Switch Area 180° x 12M 1000W Max Black
I bought this detector to work in conjunction with the "Straight Batten Lamp Holder" in my garage to save turning on the fluorescent tubes every time I went in there. For well under £10 it represents very good value and has been working fine for a couple of months now. It is fully adjustable for sensitivity, length of time the bulb is lit and the light levels when it operates. It seems quite well made and is fine for internal use but I don't know how long it would last outside, but at the price you could afford to buy a spare one.

Value for Money
I have installed several of these over the years and have found them to be great value for money, but there are some limitations.I have one fitted at my rear door to cover the bin area. This one is sheltered from the rain, is North facing, and has operated flawlessly for years.I also have one fitted on the wall at my garage and it operates a string of LED lamps along the house wall (note for those asking if it would work with LED lamps). This one has no shelter from the rain and it also faces South and, as a result, it requires to be replaced every 2 to 3 years or so.I believe the main cause of failure is damage to the sensor caused by the sun.I think that next summer, when the detector is not really needed very much, I will fit a small black bag over it to keep the sun out and see if that helps the longevity. In spite of these issues it is still a great value for money item.

Not recommended.
It is made from very hard, brittle plastic and the fitting/wiring instructions are virtually non-existent.If I had been able to physically see this product before buying I wouldn't have bought it, it looks like something you see on the shelf at poundland. It does not inspire confidence that it will be long lasting so time will tell.I could be totally wrong - I really hope I am, and I will update after its been working for a month or so.I have marked it 4 stars which might be unfair because it does work and may prove to be durable.UPDATE ********I have downgraded it to 2 stars for the following reasons1. It obviously needs two cables to work, one in from the power supply and one out to the lights but the access hole only has room for one2. The plastic is very brittle and when you try to make the access hole larger it just shatters3. It s not water tight - there are no rubber gaskets and the moulding is poor that rainwater can and does get in4. The instructions are diabolical and if you are not an electrician then you will not know how to connect it correctly5. The only cable access is from the back so you can not run any cable in from the side/top or bottom. Again if you try to make a hole then it shatters.

So Far So Good
I bought this PIR Detector through Amazon to replace a failed one on a floodlight. I'm not an electrician but this item was easy enough to instal and it does a really good job. There are adjustments for Sensitivity, 'On' time and Ambient light. Poorer products often allow no adjustment so the light comes on when its not required. This one is fully adjustable. And I'm about to buy a second. Some reviews suggested it might not last very long. I've only had mine for a few days, so fingers crossed it keeps going.

A great device
I bought this PIR to switch the light on in my garage when I opened the internal door from the house. It works a treat so you don't have to touch the switch. With the main garage door open, there is sufficient light in the garage so the PIR doesn't trigger - marvellous!

Does not work with Led Floodlight
Be warned: although this will switch tungsten and CFL lights it will not operate LED lighting.I primarily bought this to go with the "OXLUX 20W SMD LED Floodlight", as it was advertised on the same page as that light.I wired it all up on the bench with the LED light, only to find that it will not switch off the light when timer times out: as soon as the timer expires the LED light goes out and immediately comes on again, the on-off-on cycle repeating ad-infinitum.After browsing the web I find this is a common issue. Some people say its due to the very low load of the led light, others say its due to capcitive coupling, others say its due to leakage current from the PIR.1) Its not low load current, I wireda 100w tungsten in parallel, same problem of cycling. it will drive a very low power 4W CFL lamp on its own also.2) Its not capacitive coupling, I tried a varistor across the load, no change. My belief is that the problem is due to cheap solid state electronics, and what you need for LED lighting is an isolated output from the PIR drive in terms of a relay. This would be a messy after-market fix, but I will perservere and try it when I get a 240v coil rated relay. If other people have found a PIR solution for LED lighting, then please post recommendation.
