Superb flexibility and sound that almost makes me forgive Apple for removing the headphone jack
Update April 17 - Lots of use of these now, mainly on a rowing machine, running, and dog walking. It may be perception but the sound quality seems to have mellowed (as an improvement). It's more rounded watching netflix. I've been through I think 6 charge cycles, and run around 60-70 miles with them. I let the chord dangle and use the clip to attach to my running cap. No cable noise, no BT dropouts. V Happy. From the first day work issued me with an IPhone 7 I cursed its lack of “normal” headphone socket. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Jaybird X3’s so that I could run and row without having to find that lightning port adapter.I normally run with a pair of SoundMagic M10’s, or Klipsch S3. Nothing stellar but I like the sound and they’ve both done me well over hundreds of miles. I had considered the Beats X but the rigid cable, limited flexibility, excessive cable length in the face, and reviews of poorer sound led me to the X3’s.I have quite (very according to my wife) large ear canal openings, and always go straight for the largest silicone tips on any earhpones.I’ve split my review into a few sections after using the headphones for quite a few different things now. I hope you find it useful in helping to make your decision.Packaging.Premium offering and felt worthy of the price tag. Lots of foam, a lovely box (if that’s important) and sealed bags containing the eartips, clips, and charging cradle. The earphones themselves were embedded into the foam and were actually quite tricky to extract, but a bit of patience was all it took. The X3’s came with 50% battery charge.First thoughts for a quick start:The quick start guide was easy. Hold down the power button and they power up and look for a device. A very natural female announces what’s happening. She is INCREDIBLY perky. I suspect that might get a little annoying eventually but for now it was a welcome change to the robotic voice you get on other devices.Next I was struggling to work out which was left and right. A quick google and I found out something that made me VERY happy. The companion app for the headphones allows you to set which is left and right. Genius! As a left hander this is great, and allows me to have the little control lozenge on my left. As a lefty in a right handed world, this counts for a lot. Initial Bluetooth connection was great, select some tips and off we go.App:The Jaybird App is well thought out and connects in parallel to what you’re currently listening to. Simple but everything you need is right there. As already mentioned, it lets you determine which earphone is left/right. It also lets you send a test sound (over your music if playing) to check you’ve got it right. If the sound profile out of the box isn’t quite to your taste, the App allows you incredible flexibility in setting your own or choosing from a presets. It also connects smoothly to the wider community allowing you to set profiles saved by other users. This may be something others do but was some fresh thinking for me, and is very different from the Beats approach that I was looking at in comparison to these.Connectivity:Connectivity was strong and robust, and easily on a par with my other headphones (Sony 1000XM2). So far I’ve connected to my HP laptop, Samsung TV, Iphone 7, Iphone SE, Ipad 3, and Ipad 2. Connections were all solid, and range was really good. I could comfortably sit 3-5 metres from my TV and listen without dropouts, and I know my Samsung TV isn’t great for Bluetooth.SoundI like the sound of these without any tinkering of the EQ, but did notice some improvements when testing out other profiles and various music genres. A very personal thing but the starting point is good. Generally the sound had lots of separation for EDM, Jazz and Classical, but got a little muddy and crowded for things like The Foo Fighters and other rock tracks. I’m being picky though really, as they easily excel compared to my normal running buds.Flexibility and ComfortIn the box is S/M/L silicon tips, S/M/L comply tips, S/M/L wings. An almost overwhelming degree of flexibility. I’m probably too fussy when it comes to getting the fit right, but found a good combination quite easily. These were my first earphones with comply tips and I was pleasantly surprised. I may yet continue to fiddle, but for the minute I’ve settled on Large wings, Large Comply tips. And they’re so comfortable. You know they’re in as they’re not super light, but they feel attached and without pressure on the points of contact. The wings have L/R on them so once you’ve set which earphone is which in the App you still get a visual reference from the wings. So far I’ve watched TV for an hour, run 10km, and rowed 5km on an indoor rower. During all of these there were no cable snags, no fiddling to keep contact, and no soreness. A big win! I have to admit I did give myself a little headache trying to shake them out (unsuccessfully).I like the round the neck and up fit, rather than the over the ear fit. The X3’s also have 2 handy cable management clips to allow you to shorten the cable and keep snug round the back of the head.Battery lifeDifficulty to say. They came with 50% Charge, and after 3 hours of use I’m down to 21% but I haven’t charged fully yet. At the moment I have no evidence to doubt the claimed life of 8 hours meaning charging once a week for me. The proprietary charging clip is good and works well, but will need looking after as it looks like the kind of thing I might lose.In summary I’m loving my X3’s and look forward to many miles of wire free listening. Recommended!Quick update after more extended use.. lots of people talk about a hiss on these. There is a very very faint background something (not a hiss) but with relatively low volumes it is not detectable to me. Still happy, still locked on to my head and can confirm charge is ok and I’m getting about 6.5 hours at pretty high volume.

Having researched over a dozen wireless earphones and reading way too many reviews over the last month or so, I decided to take the plunge on ordering the Jaybird X3 earphones. I did not make my decision based on price, as these are very reasonably priced compared to others in its class. I have been an avid fan of Bose gear for over 14 years because their standard of build and sound quality has been excellent. While I have no complaints about my QuietComfort headphones, the wiring on the SoundSports keeps failing me. I have been through 4 pairs over the last 4-5 years, so its now time to try a new brand regardless of my previous sets being replaced by warranty (thank you Bose for your quality service). Now to the crux of the review - the rating. I have only had the Jaybird X3s for a week, so there are some elements I can't rate such as lasting durability at this early stage. There is only one reason (very important one) I have given 4/5 stars, which has been provided at the end of the below list.5/5 - Sound - Amazing for the price and the Jaybird app lets you customise the equaliser to no end. So many presets to choose from, which is brilliant and adds to the user experience. At just under 50% volume, my eyeballs become a set of speakers and start shaking when using a hi-bass present.5/5 - Noise reduction - While it's not listed as a USP, you can't hear any surrounding noise. It is dangerous when riding a bike in traffic, snowboarding down a crowded piste etc. but at work, home or gym, it's a great additional feature.5/5 - Connectivity - No issues so far and haven't experienced any drop-out on calls or when playing from Spotify on the iPhone.5/5 - Battery Life - Currently using them from 8am - 6pm and ending the day with 20% battery charge. At this stage, 10 hours is a decent battery span and could be able to get another 2 hours at a push. However, all depends on the quality of the inbuilt battery.5/5 - Construction - The wiring and earphone units are lightweight and feel they could handle a bit of tough love. I understand now why they're classed in the sports category.5/5 - Accessories - Loads of flexible earpieces and other stuff.4/5 - In-ear Comfort - Now, this is where I have to hold back a star and not give 5/5. I have tried different combinations of in-ear accessories and fitting positions, but the wing mouldings and shaping of earphone buds do cause a bit of pain after about an hour or so of use. I will point out that I have particually small ears. It has only been a week of constant use, so perhaps there is another combination I have yet to discover. If I do find the ultimate fit which eliminates the current pain, I will revise the review and pop on another star.

Good sound and battery life, but drop outs can be a pain
I'll start by saying this is the first pair of Bluetooth IEMs I've owned so don't really have a reference for comparing to others. In terms of the build, these are very solid. I've had them for 6 months and they still feel quite durable. Sweat or light rain won't be a problem as there are no exposed areas or ports (with the exception of the ear bud where the driver sits, although I'm not sure if there's a mesh to protect it from water droplets). The flat cables don't get tangled, and nothing has split or frayed. The in-line controls also feel durable and clicky, and are easy to reach. The only problem is when the buds are hanging around your neck. Because the controls are on the right hand side, the weight is unevenly distributed and they can slide off if you're not careful (although you can use the included clip to make sure they stay in place). In terms of sound quality, I really like these. The frequency response out of the box is a little bass-heavy, but the Jaybird MySound app allows you to customise it, set your own sound profile, or use community-created ones. For earphones, these sound pretty good and I use them when commuting as well as working out.The battery life is also decent. I tend to get around 6-8 hours of use before they need charging, and they only take around an hour to fully charge. But be weary of the voice that indicates the battery percentage. Every 20% it says (loudly) "Battery X%" and startles me sometimes. The proprietary adapter you need to charge it is a bit of a pain, especially if you lose it. But I can why they designed it that way, as it adds to the water resistance by removing the exposed port. For connectivity, the earphones are easy to pair via Bluetooth. However, sometimes I connect them to my phone (Android) and music won't play. So I have to disconnect and reconnect them to fix the problems. Dropouts can also be a bit of a pain. They don't happen that often, but if I have my phone in my pocket and turn my head far enough to the right, the connection to the in line remote (presumably also where the wireless receiver is) can be interrupted because my head is in the way. But if I have phone on a desk, this isn't an issue and I can get a few metres of range.Overall, I think these are a good pair of Bluetooth earphones and probably one of the best out there (which other tech reviewers will corroborate). The positives definitely outweigh the mostly nit-picky negatives. To sum up, the good:- Great build quality, sufficiently sweat/water resistant- Great sound once you tune the frequency response to your liking- Decent battery lifeThe bad:- Proprietary adapter, which can be a pain if you lose it- The voice assistant is a little loud sometimes- Connection dropouts in certain situations

Good headphones but some nitpicky issues
I've held off writing this review for a while as I wanted to get a decent amount of time having used them and gather my thoughts.I ended up getting them a little earlier than anticipated and was pleasantly surprised.Packaging was very sturdy and pretty which I noticed for a brief moment before I opened it up and got to the goods. The headphones themselves are very nice to look at, they have a decent bit of weight to them but not so much that they'll fall out of your ear. The flat cable is has a nice texture and is pretty difficult to get tangled when you throw them in your pocket. Now accessories are in abundance here but I do have a gripe about them. There are 3 sets of foam ear buds, 3 sets of silicone earbuds and 3 earphone fins; all of which come in small, medium or large. Now while I think they've covered a lot of their bases here and I think the problem becomes if you lose/misplace the set you are using, you now are stuck with 5 sets of earbuds that are pretty uncomfortable.I spend the first week thinking that the medium buds were perfect for me until I tried the small and my ears screamed joys of relief. I noticed that if you are using the wrong fins or earbuds you will experience a fair bit of discomfort after 1-hour listening sessions. So take your time, try all of the different combinations to find your perfect bowl of porridge.Audio quality? Yeah it's fairly decent. Good highs but feel like it's trying too hard on the lows. If you have the app there is a community setting that fixes any issues in the mid-range.Bluetooth connection was really surprising. Assuming open area I could get about 15 metres away from the device and still have full connection. But as soon as there is something between us at that distance it gets crackly and distorted. But still overall good stuff. The inline microphone is good, I've had no complaints from using it for phone calls to and from work.Lastly, the battery - Which lasts, while connected to both my laptop and phone simultaneously for approximately 8 hours of constant music usage which I'd say was pretty impressive. I don't charge it often normally when I step away from my desk I'll plug them in and after about 30minutes to an hour they are magically full again. Great. So overall, It's a recommendation but it's not without flaws. I personally use these as my daily driver now and block out those nasty ambient noises from the general populous

Absolutely excellent!!!
I was skeptical about bluetooth earphones after trying a couple of cheap pairs and finding them useless (poor reception, crap sound quality, etc) but I was getting sick of running with wires. I read loads of reviews and these consistently scored highly so I bit the bullet and invested. It was definitely worth it.These are packaged very nicely and I like that there's a whole bunch of ear tips and buds to choose from for the perfect fit. I have weird shaped ears with piercings and have to adjust the tips every so often but generally they stay put on the run using the silicone tips. I haven't tried the spongy ones yet but they seem nice and squishy. I especially like the cable clip for shortening the cable - very useful. The pouch is nice too and big enough to keep the earphones and the little charger cable in there. You'll probably want to do that as these come with a proprietary charger, which is a bit fiddly and annoying.Connectivity was my major concern, especially as I also wear a Garmin which connects via Bluetooth. However, I have had no issues whatsoever. I run with my garmin on my left wrist, my earphones in my ears and my ipod in a pocket on my right thigh and not so much as a crackle suggesting a poor connection. They also function perfectly with my phone in my bag so evidently the connection is strong.Sound-wise I quite like these "as is" - they're ok - but with the accompanying equaliser app they're in a league of their own. How we hear things is completely subjective so being able to change that, and easily, is a genius idea making these genuinely suitable for all tastes. I wasn't fussed on any of the standard presets offered so went hunting through the hundreds of user made ones. I found several I liked to suit different types of music (I listen to everything from classical to the bassiest heavy metal, with the exception of modern pop because it's rubbish, as well as audio books) and with a few tweaks I made my very own "perfect for my ears" setups. I even have a special bass heavy one just for when I need extra motivation when running :). Seriously, fiddle with the equalisation and you can completely change the way these sound. I defy anyone to fail to find a setup which doesn't suit them.Battery life is good too. I tend to charge once or twice a week depending on how much running I've done and how much I've used them walking to work or blocking out hubby on the PS4 at home (good notice isolation!). I like that they announce the battery level when you switch them on, although the accompanying music is a bit annoying. The remote works nicely and is well situated - it goes on the right hand side but you can swap that in the app if you want. I don't mind in the least that you hold the volume buttons down to change tracks. I actually think that's easier to use.I haven't had these long enough to comment on longevity but they seem well built and as with any earphones you will need to look after them. Keep them in the little pouch when not in use and I'm sure they'll last fine. This review is a very long winded way of saying I'm a sceptic turned fanatic. I love these earphones and they work brilliantly, both for exercise and every day life. Having the ability to tweak sound to my personal preferences is genius and not the gimmick I thought it would be. Yes they were expensive but worth every penny.PS the white and gold look is really pretty too

An excellent passive noise isolating wireless earbuds that is only held back by its bespoke charging method.
I bought these headphones to use in the gym to replace some old cabled Monster Sports. I was looking for wireless, with good noise cancellation so I didn't have to hear the poorly chosen selection of music played over the top of whatever I was listening to. The headphones came in a nice little box, that actually smelt pretty good(!). It contained the headphones, a pouch, some different size buds and the charger.Headphones were charged to 80% out of the box, and paired easily with my android phone. I've had no issues with the device pairing, and this happens quickly each time without fail. I've had a few minor drop outs but it picks it back up very quickly, and certainly nothing that would be annoying. One bug bear is even though charging is quick, you need to use a special adaptor that comes in the box, without it you are stuck. It charges quickly and I've used them for long periods (4hrs +) without running out. Because of the adaptor I charge them frequently as its a Li-on battery. The headset itself is light, pretty small in the ear and I've found relatively comfortable despite being a design that blocks the ear tunnel completely. There is some cord noise as a result if you rub against certain things but putting the cable behind your neck smooths most of these out.Noise isolation is very good, and was a selling point over some other sports brands as I don't run/do activities that require me to be aware of my surroundings. The sound stage is bright, with good bass, decent midrange and a relatively clean upper range. They are certainly an improvement over my previous set. I've tried everything from heavy metal, through dance to classical on them and they perform well for a wireless headset. In summary:Pros:Lightweight and smallGood performance for a wireless headsetEasy and reliable pairing to Android devicesGood passive noise isolationCons:The bespoke charging solution

Great headphones and a quality product all around.
I have tried two other sets of wireless Bluetooth headphones designed for exercising in over the last year, one of a similar price, and found both to be lacking. Third time has proved the charm though as these Jaybirds and quality all around.Firstly the packaging itself is very reassuring arriving, as they do, in a lovely white Apple-esque box that unclips and folds out to reveal the goodness within. This includes a decent set of instructions, the phones themselves (extremely well secured for transport) and a black pouch containing numerous types and sizes of earbuds should you wish to find your perfect fit.You get both silicone and foam to choose from but I found the silicone ones they arrive in to be perfectly adequate for me.You CAN download the Jaybird app to your phone if you want to tinker with the bass, treble etc...However, I found pairing them as they come without the burden of an extra app on my phone provided excellent sound quality. Conveniently, the phones arrived with 60% charge and ready to go. Pairing was simplicity itself, simply turn them on by holding down the middle button on the attached control panel and you will hear a chirpy American lady announce "Power on!" and a little jingle, detect them on your phone's Bluetooth and away you go!You can wear these over or under the ears and the come with fins for extra secure attachment but, again, I found these unnecessary and removed mine. Once in they seemed in no danger of falling out.My biggest gripe with these sort of headphones in the past has been the contact dropping. No such problems here though, the sound was just as consistent as a wired connection. The sound quality is superb, loud, full and punchy with acoustic music, rock and audiobooks all sounding very pleasing. Volume can be controlled by the buttons either side of the central power button and these double as track skipping buttons if pressed twice. The battery life seems excellent, I have used them for a few hours now and they are still going strong. The only slight niggle is that they come with a bespoke charging cable which is quite small (I understand replacements can be bought if needed though). Personally, I would rather have has a standard mini USB charging slot.As for the price, it may seem a lot but, as soon as you even see the box and hear these for the first time, you'll be aware that you have made a quality purchase which, I feel sure, will last a good long time. Sometimes, paying that bit extra is well worth it.All in all, I feel my quest for quality Bluetooth headphones (oh, and they're rainproof too) can end here as I couldn't possibly imagine a better set than this.

UPDATE 25/11/2017 - I have now been waiting over a week for Jaybird to respond, nothing, lots of people complaining on forums also about no response, think carefully about choosing these. Support is poor.Let me just start with the fact these earphones are now dead and Amazon have washed their hands of helping me replace them after only owning them 6months, consider your purchase with Amazon.Despite the poor reviews for these earphones i ploughed ahead hoping i would find good in these, afterall they must be good charging so much for them?? All the time i have been using these i have them paired against my other earphones available from Amazon for about 16.99 currently lets call them TaoT.In short i found myself reaching for the TT for comfort, ease of use and equal sound quality.I am a gym user i sweat alot and i like electronic music good bass and sound insulation with Senheiser ie800 as my wired companions (effing awesome)I honestly can't justify in any way how they charge 90+ pounds for these because they're just not worth it. They dont fit quite as well as the TT despite changing the earbuds, i found using Comply foam buds best in the end.Ease of useThe stupid stupid USB adapter thing you need to carry with you to charge, again i thought i could deal with that but at times it renders them useless sitting in my office having forgotten the charger piece and forgot to charge night before...it happens. With the Tao's they plug straight in on a standard micro USB connection of course. TT WinsSound qualityThey sound great for a wireless earphone and are on par with the TT, are they better? I dont think they apart from the fact of course you can tune the sound with the Jaybird app to suit your ears. But on the whole out of the box the TT are equally impressive on bass and top end. Draw.Gym use and jogging.I know tomorrow if i was in an intensive class, id be using the TTBattery lifeWas good until they have now died on me completely. Wont charge and wont power up.I give them 2 stars. As they've been completely outperformed by a 16.99 pair.I give amazon a multi BILLION pound company 1 star not offering any type of returns after only 6months of owning and being a prime customer doesn't mean Jack you should be ashamed of yourself, i hope you choke on your profits,
