I was going to buy a blender especially for mashing my senior dogs food as he finds it hard to chew and often eat himself now as he has dementia and so food almost pureed makes it easier to feed him, when I came across this product and through for the price will try it and am glad I did, it does the job perfectly.The masher can be used both in its own bowl or with any other bowl or plate ( although be careful if you use a plate as food can slide off.If you have the strength you could I feel use it for food ( home made or bought) that is firm but I only use it for either my own homemade but well cooked, so soft, or pouches or trays of dog food ( would work with canned easily as well, I just don't buy them as he won't eat them).For a few minutes work you save yourself having to plug in and fill up a blender then have the trouble of cleaning it out, this masher and bowl are so easy to clean and are fine in the dishwasher.My hands are not particularity big so find the masher just the right size for me to hold and use. Its of a chunky enough design not to feel as you mash the food that it is going to fall apart in your hands. The bowl is very small - useful for a baby that is just starting to be weaned or an animal that only has very small portions so depending on what I know my dog will eat I sometimes use the masher with its own bowl or sometimes in one of my dogs own bowls.Definitely a handy thing to have in your kitchen for any food you find yourself mashing with a fork - as long as its soft or well cooked.

Before I bought this I would just use a fork or pototoe masher. But this is a must have for a weaning baby, it mashes the fruit up to a lovely consistency. The ridges in the bowl ensure the fruit doesn't slip out.

Suitable for mashing herbs or garlic, it's a generous size for that and the bowl ridges work well to macerate the contents.I'd use it to mash baby food as well if my kids were still small, it would be perfect for that as well, doubling up as a baby bowl.Seems to be dishwasher safe and quite sturdy.

Well made and durable bowl and masher. I have used this on a near daily basis for a few months and much prefer it to using a hand blender as you can make up small amounts at a time.The bowl is about the size of a small rice bowl and was smaller than I expected it to be when it arrived.The bowl and masher both have a good soft grip and it's easy to get the food to the right consistency for a baby.The bowl has some grooves in it. I couldn't really understand what these were for at first but they do help to mash the food more finely and crush any skins in the food.They wash well in the dishwasher.Have taken off one star as they have become slightly discoloured (not sure whether this is due to the vegetables or turmeric). However this is not too noticeable and does not distract from its usefulness.I would definitely buy this again.

Used this a few times as just introducing my baby to weaning. Mashes veg and banana really well. I've just used it for small quantities but it is very quick and convenient and makes mashing very easy. Find it very useful as I can easily prepare veg separately to ours and make the food individual to baby with his cows milk protein allergy. It has a corregated base of the bowl which works well with the masher. The food was a nice consistancy for a beginner to eat. I would recommend. It was easy to clean/wash up. It is also a nice design and colour.

this is such an awesome product! every kitchen needs it not just for people with babies! its at an awesome price and its great quality. in such a cheerful colour. and what makes it soooo awesomeeeee is the grooves on the cup- makes mashing stuff a breeze! i tried to mash food effectively before this product arrived and it was so difficult! but with this masher- its so easy.. infact skipped pureeing all together for all the steamed food and just used this masher when i started weaning my 4 month old. I even use the masher when i cook for mashing everything! i love the size as well! its small enough to carry in yr handbag and perfect to make mashed food for yr baby on a daily basis (dont like storing food in the freezer for the baby)

Ok, so my child is not a baby, but a toddler with a VERY sensitive gag reflex. He easily chokes if parts of his food are too hard and he has forgotten to chew, or if he swallows something with an odd texture etc. Shortly afterwards, after a good cough, he will vomit. I have really struggled at meal times with him. BUT not no more! So glad I found this food masher - it's been fab! It gives perfect consistency for him i.e we mashed pasta yesterday and one spiral mashed down to maybe 3 pieces, even the sweetcorn squashed down to make it easier to swallow. Really pleased with this item and I can tell we will be using it alot more. Beats messing about with blenders and mills, so much washing! Not with this - great to wash and dries fast ready for next use. My daughter is only a few weeks yet, but I will definatly use this with her too. Cannot recommened enough! BUY! Amazon is cheapest.

This is a lovely product but wish it was better. There is so much scope to make it better, but it does the job. You want a separate masher for your baby, you got it! Its BPA free and its easy to use it for a bowl as well, and that's it! We use it for when we are travelling, mash avocados, bananas, and a few other fruits. However, I wish it had a lid. Its good to maybe carry some cut fruit or leftover food home. It would also work as a storage bowl if it had that lid.But on the whole, the design is nice, the masher works perfectly, easy to clean, has had no stains at all despite using all different coloured food. Seems sturdy, stylish but the masher doesn't fit inside the bowl nor does it have a lid, so the trip to grandmas or travelling abroad is where you can use it best.
