Strongly recommended, with some cautions re: use.
This is one situation where saving a few bucks may do you more harm than investing a few more dollars - buy this one quality tool versus the cheaper three-piece-for-$10 sets that are poorly made. This tool is solid stainless steel, is finely made, and does appear to be a legitimate dental tool (note I am not a dental hygienist or dentist, but do work in healthcare). It does have sharp edges, thus caution does need to be taken when using it. It is imperative that it be sterilized before use, as with any tool that will be in contact with bodily fluids or membranes. A tip for scraping off tartar: it's gritty - when you stop feeling that gritty sensation & the tool slides more smoothly, stop scraping or you'll damage your enamel. Also, if you can't visualize what you're scraping, leave it up to the experts. And using this, even judiciously, does not preclude regular dental visits for complete oral exams. Minor gripe: wish it came in some sort of case, to protect both the points, and myself from its sharp points. Overall, strongly recommended.

A Great Scaler for Occasional Home Use (but read before ordering it for home use!)
This is perfect for what I needed it for: scaling around the contacts between my teeth in between prophy appointments. I have a permanent lingual retainer, which makes flossing near the top of my lower teeth impossible (I use a proxy brush to get in between them, but it's impossible near the top), and so staining occurs near the contacts. At the advise of my dentist, I picked up this scaler to address that. That said, I used to work in a dental office, and so have both a healthy respect for how sharp these are, and the damage one can do if used improperly. So, if you're not a trained professional, please talk with your dentist before using this on yourself, and have them or their assistant or hygienist show you how to use it without damaging your teeth or hurting your gums.

Works great
I do see the dentist every 6 montha for professional cleaning.. BUT we all know we can feel the buildup before that despite all the brushing. Heavyweight and like the ones the dentist use. It works great!

DIY Dentistry? No, but great for keeping your teeth clean between dentist visits
This scaler is pretty well made. Sure it is made in Pakistan. Does it matter? The edges are sharp. The two ends have different design for different usage. It is not a replacement for dentist visits, but it can keep your teeth clean between visits. Very well built and made overall.Pro tip: when you first get it, put it in boiling hot water for a few minutes to sanitize it before you use it.

Not durable
The tip of mine broke after just a couple of uses. I was using it to (lightly) scratch some resin. These are not very durable.

It's worth the money
It gets the job done!!!! I had crazy build up on back bottom teeth from smoking and it really got in the hard to reach spots. Saved me 1000nds at a dentist they wanted to charge me 12,000 to remove what this tool did.

Well made!
Really excellent tool. I did read some nonsense about using a dental tool and saving money by skipping a dentist visit?Seriously? How foolish. And possibly dangerous. There is no substitute for a good dental exam including cancer screeningAnd a hygiene appointment which could save your teeth , gums and possibly your heart from infection. All of your oraficesNeed special exams folks, don't be shortsighted and then short lived.

Amazing!!!!!
Very strong, sturdy and sharp. This is such a professional quality pick...seriously. I had one with a plastic handle and it was so flimsy and crappy, that I decided to opt for a steel one and the difference is like night and day! Amazing product and works like a dream. Will definitely purchase again. Just not sure how to keep it sharpened longterm.
