Holds an Edge.
Digital print pattern aside, this is a VG-10 clad blade with a quality build. I worked as a professional cook in a past life (don't use this in a restaurant ; it's too nice). It has a nice feel and holds a deadly edge. Touch up after each use with a medium diamond stick and please never put any knife you care about in a dishwasher. Carefully wash it off and put is back in a block. Nicest chef knife I've ever used.

A knife experience like no other
I am so glad I purchased this set. These are by far the best knives I have ever owned, Starting off with they are real damascus, not laser etched. There is real weight in them and you know they are quality once you pick them up. The edges are very sharp!!! Be careful. These are a must have in your kitchen. I had no idea good knives made such a difference.

UPDATED: Still Some Question But Good Replies from Vendor
UPDATE: The vendor has replied to my concerns and provided additional information. I have added a translated version of the lab certification they sent me which shows that the steel tested was Damascus steel (sixth picture). Here is their written reply (I am still considering an independent lab if I can find one near me):1. In reality, the number of patterns in Damascus steel is not strictly determined by the number of layers. While it is traditional to use multiple layers of stacked steel in the production of Damascus steel, the final pattern effect is influenced by various factors during the manufacturing process. These factors include the combination of steel used, the forging and folding techniques employed, and the acid etching process, among others. Therefore, even with the same number of layers, different manufacturing methods can result in different pattern effects.2. The consistent pattern you observed on the ASETY knives, as well as the differences compared to your Miyabi knives, could be attributed to variations in the manufacturing techniques and steel compositions. Additionally, the deeper pitting on the ASETY knives compared to the Miyabi knives is another distinguishing factor.3. Regarding the composition of the knives, We can guarantee that ASETY's Damascus knives are made of real Damascus steel. Attached are the supporting documents for Damascus Steel. However, if you have any concerns regarding the authenticity of the knives, we suggest reaching out to an independent lab for testing. Don't worry, if it's damaged, we can send you another set of new Damascus knivesORIGINAL REVIEW:Currently own two Miyabi Damascus steel knives and bought these caused they had decent reviews and seemed to be a good value.Just received them and as another reviewer stated I do not believe these are true Damascus steel. I have included several pictures to show why. The image with five knives has the new set and my two Miyabi knives. The second image is my the Miyabi chef knife ( no logo on Miyabi knife) along with the ASETY chef knife. The third picture contain my Miyabi paring knife and the ASETY 5.5 inch knife and the ASETY 7 inch Santoku knife. The fourth picture with the extremely hard shadow edge shows the pitting on the new ASETY 8 inch chef knife. The fifth picture shows the Damascus pattern on my Miyabi chef knife. The problem I have with the new ASETY knives is the very uniform steel pattern between the three knives. The lack of randomness that my Miyabi knives has is also missing. Additionally the pitting on the ASETY knives is very deep compared to Miyabi knives. If you look at the start of the pattern between the Miyabi knives and the ASETY knives the ASETY knives have just a straight line towards the knife edge. I am not an expert on making Damascus steel but if there were 67 layers on the ASETY knives I would expect to see 67 gradations on the knife surfaces. I was able to count between 14-16 very uniform gradations. As for the weight, balance and feel the ASETY knives fit the hand well and appear to be well balanced. At this point I am keeping them and will try them out. I will also update the review if I figure anything more out about the composition of the knives. While I cannot afford to have these knives tested/destroyed while testing, I would love for an independent lab to test if the knives are true Damascus knives.

Great Quality
I got these for my ex-husband for Christmas, as he’s been wanting knives like these for quite some time. (I live far away, so it’s perfectly safe gifting my ex some sharp objects.) He absolutely loves them, he tried them out immediately and was able to cut everything beautifully without effort. And they’re really beautiful looking too!

Very sharp!
Liked: packaging, appearance, sharpness.Did not like, absence of blade guards,Big knives too heavy for average woman but bought for a man so not a deal breaker,If not for the $40 discount coupon, I may have picked something else. All in all a good buy. The true test will be 6 months from now.

Beyond razor sharp!
Easily the sharpest (and prettiest) knives I have...ridiculously sharp! They pass the paper cutting test with flying colors! Clean, thin, straight strips.I'll give an update on how well they hold the edge when I've used them a lot more.
