It's built sturdy enough, but it's too small for larger dishes. Our 5-gallon water touched the inside edges of this piece and water easily got dripped or spilled over.The bigger issue is that it traps water underneath and promotes a great space for mold and mildew to grow. It's unsanitary and unsafe.FINAL WORD: Unless you have a tiny dish, find a better alternative.

Works great, bought it with the yeti bowls

We have a dog who loves to "gobble" her water and then loves to hold her head down and shake her soaking wet beard. This tray comes closer to anything we had previously tried to capturing the residue water and protect the floor.

it's too stiff and lightweight...I thought it would be like thick rubber but it's basically plastic and doesn't stay planted very well

I've had a few versions of a dog bowl mat in the past, and all got kind of cruddy. This one is durable, looks great, and actually does what it's supposed to. No more water spills or food on my floor.

So this is a great items does exactly what it is supposed to do.I have a Yorkie so I thought that's perfect for him, however my other dog a rot mix likes it too. Sadie fills the tray by drinking water and neiko drinks out of tray. Lol

I've been looking for a nice bowl mat for quite some time and chose this one. It's been great for what I need. The bottom is rubbery, which keeps the mat from sliding around and the top is easy to clean and wipe out. The only thing I didn't think about is that my dog's yellow fur stands out against the gray, but otherwise the dark color is good at hiding dirty paw prints and kibble crumbs.

This Basecamp Mat is amazing! My puppy will love it once she arrives. This mat is sturdy and made of high quality material. Great for travel as well. Don’t hesitate - buy it!

Just as the bowls from Ruffwear look great on this mat and are well made, but need to be redesigned, (as I described in my review of those items), so too can this mat be summed up in the same way.It's a lovely looking item and protects your floor from sloppy furry eaters and drinkers but it's very difficult to wash because of the fabric-type covering and the attractive yet impractical ridges that collect food and water. I wash it in the sink with soapy water and a sponge but it's not easy owing to the large size. Furthermore the fabric covering that is bonded to an underlying plastic tray and looks fantastic, does show signs of coming loose at the edges, even when new and unused. I can't tell yet if it's just poorly finished at the edges or is coming apart very slightly, but I'm seeing loose threads from that fabric coating that I'll need to trim off soon. I should also note that this cannot be put in the dishwasher under any circumstances. However, despite the flaws, I really like the look of this. It's a massive improvement over cheap plastic trays and securely anchors the bowls while preventing spills onto the floor.
