Smart rugged effective design with convenient cable storage
Great design at a great price.Opens easily with 6 phillips screws that keep hard shell secured around a pliant rubber gasket/bumper and carrier that cradles the drive. Drive slides into carrier securely. Carrier provides very substantial shock absorption and looks like it should also be well-sealed from moisture (i didn't test but it leaves no doubt). Shell is rigid and strong. Integrated sturdy USB cable stores easily and securely around outer edge of bumper offering further shock absorption for an edge hit. Cable storage provides protection for the USB plug. Installed drive is detected immediately. Data transfers at full drive speed (e.g., 75 MB/s) Blue LED shines through one side of case to show operation.

I'm a tech skeptic who is impressed
Okay, I thought I'd give this a try purely because it has an integrated cable, and I'm sick of my current external enclosure coming disconnected from a loose cable if it's moved even slightly. I have to say, I'm impressed! The item really does feel sturdy. Instructions are TINY print, but hardly necessary because it's pretty intuitive: separate the halves and insert the drive, reassemble and close with screws (screws and screwdriver are included). There's a foam pad inside to dampen shock and hold the drive in place, and the pad is positioned correctly in terms of which part of the drive it sits on (it doesn't press on the circular portion of the disc). The drive mounted immediately, and I did a preliminary drag-and-drop test using a gigabyte video file, and the transfer speed was good. The integrated cable is a ribbon, not a cord, which makes me feel reassured about its durability.

These are the best I have tried so far
I have a bunch of external drive cases. These are the best I have tried so far. 2.5 inch drives install in no time with no effort. They have a rugged design, plenty of protection, they are super light weight and the price is great. There is a nifty status light that compliments the case and it works.I would recommend this product for anyone that needs to use an external solution for laptop storage, backups, or portable media storage.. If one was so inclined, most operating systems that matter can be installed and run from the USB 3 interface. It would be cool to have several different colored cases for various uses. I usually find something to nitpick about but so far I believe these are a great investment to protect and organize my external drives. Also, they fit well in my laptop cases. I'll get some more of these cases. Good job ineo.

Works well. A bit clunky. Built-in cord too short.
I bought a 1TB SSD to use with a new laptop that has limited, very expensive M.2 RAM.Since the SSD is expensive, I shopped for a shock-resistant case and this one with its promise of meeting a MIL spec looked good.I've noted the complaints about seemingly "defective" units and the remedies offered, so I was really careful about making sure that the SSD was fully seated. You have to push aside the seals to make visual verification of proper seating. It's easy to see how people may have inserted a drive and thought it was fully seated when it was not.Anyway, I put in the SSD, plugged the six-inch built-in cord into the USB 3.0 socket and the unit and then the drive were immediately recognized. I also tried it on a powered USB 3.0 hub with the same results. The six-inch cord length may be dictated by the design of the unit, but it is, in my opinion, too short. I will be carrying a short USB extension cable with this. On the other hand, the six-inch cable wraps snugly along the side and it isn't going to be lost or misplaced, which is one of the reasons this unit appealed to me.I don't know if this unit will live up to its shock-resistance claims and I am not going to be dropping it on a concrete floor to test it. But if appearances are any indicator, this unit is definitely built to absorb the effects of bumps and falls. Very impressive, in fact. The enclosure has a "macho" design which doesn't move me much and it is understandably larger than normal external drive housings.Six tiny screws secure the base plate to the housing. A small screwdriver is provided and my unit came with eight screws, which is nice because these screws dropped on a carpet are not going to be easy to find. The screws are going into silicone, not metal or hard plastic. You have to be very careful of not over-tightening them.Overall, I think I'm getting my money's worth in this case and that my SSD will be pretty well protected. I did use CrystalMark to benchmark my SSD in this case and it seems fast enough in my limited testing, which is good enough for my needs and under these circumstances. I'll be using this primarily for project storage and will transfer necessary files to the internal M.2 of the laptop, which is blazingly fast.Jerry

Use it daily!
OK, so the plastic feels a little cheap & the rubber seems like it's not doing much, but definitely better than a hard case with no cushion. Of course a magnetic hard drive's head will still bounce if you drop it in this - but the case won't get scratched or dented!Easy enough to install, with a little squishing of the foam to get the connector in.And the unit is still pretty small and lightweight, so that always helps with the inertia problems of dropping something - well and putting it in your bag of course. All in all a great little unit.

Rugged and waterproof?
I really needed a replacement enclosure for a portable hard drive that I use for data restoration. I came across this item and was a little skeptical. I really don't need my drive to be waterproof, but I was wrong. I was helping a customer in a security booth in the middle of parking lot. He notebook was in a dirty and damp booth. This enclosure stood up to a little rainfall from a leaking security booth. I carry a Panasonic ToughBook, so I was not worried about my notebook. Having a water resistant external hard drive was fantastic. I highly recommend this enclosure. If you don't need the water resistant capability, get it for the rugged material it is made of. Plus, the price is reasonable.
