Works great. Perfect for medium sized video production companies.
First let me get the negative out of the way. If this switch is sitting near you you may find it a tad loud.I replaced the included fans with quieter ones and now it's not noticeable, even if you're right next to it.We get high data rates to and from our NAS, even if 3-4 people editing off of it simultaneously. All ports are RJ45 (Yay!).

I have a bit of organizing and cable hiding to do but so far it works great. Full 10GbE speeds as per specification
I actually ordered and received the 8-port version, I'm sure the 12-port works the same as my 8-port.I have a bit of organizing and cable hiding to do but so far it works great. Full 10GbE speeds as per specification. I bought two so I have 10G speeds through my home from desktops 2 floors up to NAS devices in the basement. Oddly enough I'm getting full 10G speeds over a Cat5e line, though it's only about 50ft in length.

Great for Mac Users
I have a (Mac) network with "legacy" and new equipment (3 Mac mini 12/18 loaded). It is located in a small studio that I am always moving equipment in and out. Right out of the box the switch just worked... powering the legacy equipment at maximum speeds and using the 10 Gb speed of all the new Mac boxes. If you are a Mac user and have new equipment that supports 10 Gb networking, this is the switch for you. To make sure you are running at top performance make sure you use CAT 6a or CAT 7 cables. my only regret is I didn't get the 12 port model. Oh well next time ;-{)

Works GREAT. Very fast with several different multi-gig connections, but beware - fans are LOUD!
I have a QNAP file server connected at 10gb, 2 Sabrent USB-C at 5gb, a Netgear MS510-TX at 10gb, a Zyxel MG-105 at 2.5G, and an Asus RT-AX89X at 10gb connected to it and everything runs smoothly. Very impressed with the speeds I'm getting. Just plugged them in and everything worked. No config was needed. My only (minor) complaint is the fan noise. I have it in a closet so it's fine when I close the door, but when the door is open it can be heard from pretty far away. I tried to replace the 40x20mm 3 pin fans on it with Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX 40x20mm fans but they wouldn't spin up. I even changed around the pins on the fan and the best I got was the Noctua spun up for a few seconds then stopped. After a min or 2 the diagnotic light on the switch flashed red. It did not like this fan. I asked the question about replacement fans, so hopefully Buffalo will respond with a suggestion or 2.I'd give it 4.5 stars with the .5 deduction for the loud fan. Which wouldn't be an issue if you're not near it.

Limited feature "Smart" switch
Cheapest multi-port 10GBe switch around, but the "smart" features are completely lacking LACP, and it will only accept an 8-character password which just reeks of insecure firmware to me. It's not like there's any decent affordable alternatives though, and it does provide 2.5Gb, 5Gb. or 10Gb on each port.Edit: Now in 2022, MikroTik has some alternatives that are in the same price range with much more capability (12 port w/ router os), yet the price of this has remained the same for 4 years now and the firmware still hasn't been updated since 2018. I'm surprised I didn't write this in the initial review, but the fans were too loud for me and were immediately removed and I modified the case to accept a 140mm fan that's silent. The thing has been reliably passing lots of packets for 4 years now and has been used with 2.5gbe, 5gbe, and 10gbe connections.

Plug it in - turn it on.
No issues.

The manufacturer's web site & spec sheet state this supports ...
The manufacturer's web site & spec sheet state this supports link aggregation and VLANs.Link aggregation is just plain false - no LAG or LACP support.VLANs is "almost". All VLANs share the same MAC address table. This is uncommon and not as secure as the expected/common VLAN implementation where each VLAN has it's own MAC address table.

Ports 5-8 DOA
I purchased mine from Amazon Warehouse, so it was likely a return. It had never been racked, all contents were still sealed in their original baggies.. feet had not been installed. Still, ports 5-8 were DOA.. which is likely why it was returned originally.Buffalo won't warranty it since it was an open box return.. so back it goes. I learned everything I needed to know about Buffalo in 1 transaction. I'm sure they'll get it back from Amazon anyways, but I'll be shopping elsewhere.Oh and the fans are really loud. You'll want this in a proper network closet, as it's not suitable for office use.
