The track listing on disc 6 does not match the contents of disc 6. Variations 25-26 are not present as the tracks indicate Variation 29 and the Quadlibet. Once again, money spent on a large project just to have quality control screw up and ruin everything.

11 CDs einer Goldberg faszinierenden Aufnahmesession - unfassbar
Nach der 1955 Box konnte ich nicht widerstehen zeitnah die 1981er Box zu kaufen. Die Original CD mit ihren 51 Minuten 12s ist auf CD 11, d.h. es gibt 10 CDs mit den ganzen Aufnahmesessions dazu, ca. 11-12 Stunden lang. Ein schweres 216 seitiges Buch dokumentiert die Hintergründe, liefert ein Protokoll der Gespräche und sehr viele schönes Fotos. Das ist also kein billiges Booklet, sondern wahrscheinlich schon alleine 50 Euro wert.Im Gegensatz zur 1955 Box fehlt eine Schutzbox für das Buch mit den CDs und es gibt auch keine Vinyl Version dazu. Den Preis von 86 Euro finde ich trotzdem angemessen, kein Schnäppchen. Aber im Vergleich zu anderen Super Deluxe Ausgaben wird hier viel zum Hören geboten (z.B. Beatles - Revolver, die Musik davon passt auf 2 CDs). Eine gute Idee wäre es gewesen, wenn Sony eine Blu-ray mit den Filmaufnahmen der Sessionen beigefügt hätte.Die 1981 Aufnahme habe ich nicht in guter Erinnerung und mochte sie nicht. Damals handelte sich um die Digitalversion und leider steckte die Digitaltechnik 1981 noch in den Kinderschuhen. Dessen bewusst hat man mehrere analoge Bandmaschinen mitlaufen lassen und analog remastered hört es sich hier fantastisch an. Gould spielt hier auf einem Yamaha Konzertflügel über den er während der Sessions öfters schimpft.12 Stunden Aufnahmesession hört sich vielleicht langweilig an, ist es aber keineswegs, im Gegenteil. Das hat was Meditatives, so wie die Goldberg Variation ja sowieso sind. Klar spielt Gould es nicht so schnell wie 1955 und nach einem schriftlich ausgearbeiteten Konzept. Einige Variationen sind sogar schneller gespielt. Daher lässt er sich vor vielen Takes die vorherige Variation einspielen. Hier erlebt man einen im Vergleich zur 1955er Versionen erfahrenen Studiohasen Glenn Gould, der genau weiß wie es klingen soll.Es ist ein Erlebnis die Sessions zu hören und daher sehr zu empfehlen.

The ideal complement to the 1955 Recording Sessions Boxset
For GG die-hard fans, piano scholars as well as student and listeners. These recordings help to understand the subleties in the interpretation by the great odd Canadian artist. Variatio by variatio.It is a very rewarding experience for the educated listener.Recording and reproduction wise, the sound quality is good to me: the original tapes seem not to have been overly tweaked to boom the sound (I found this happening in several recent historical recording reissues!). Care has been taken in offering a vivid and natural reproduction: kudos to Sony! Enjoy!

Spedizione Amazon da mani nei capelli.
Il prodotto in sè è fantastico, ma la spedizione Amazon è da incubo, arrivato in un semplice cellophan, tutto strappato, infatti mancava uno degli 11 CD. Chiesto il reso, il secondo esemplare è arrivato sempre confezionato allo stesso modo (nessun imballo a protezione), strappato nella parte inferiore del dorso, ritengo inutile procedere ad un secondo reso, lo terrò così. Ripeto, prodotto in sè eccezionale, ma da acquistare presso altri canali.

Documento eccezionale, ma…
Inutile dire che per i fanatici di Gould questo libro-cofanettone è preziosissimo, così come quello delle Goldberg del ‘55. Peccato che questo non abbia anche il vinile, che il precedente aveva, fra l’altro identico all’originale e senza codice a barre. Comunque la valutazione negativa non è per la mancanza del vinile, ma per la condizioni in cui è arrivato; ora vedo se riesco ad allegare una foto.
