This is not the Correct item for an alto sax.
This is not the correct item. The item description on Amazon says this is for an alto saxophone. See my attached picture, it is not even close to fitting in the bell. Do not buy for an alto sax! I am not sure what size it actually fits. I will be trying to send this one back.

Good fit for 1941 Conn 10M
I was afraid this would be too small for my 1941 vintage Conn 10M tenor. It is a perfect fit. I’ve been using sax mutes for 40 years. This will NOT make my tenor much quieter. It will change the response for practice in the altissimo while sacrificing intonation on the bell keys. (Lowest notes)

Not a Best Buy
These never work. The sound from a sax does not come exclusively out of the bell, rather it also emanates from the open tone holes; why you need two mikes to pickup the sound. What does happen is the the mute restricts the airflow from the bell, and thst will cause intonation changes.

More looks than substance
Obviously, not very expensive, but also not very good at cutting the sound down. I noticed only a slight reduction in volume, not really different from when I stuffed a wash cloth in there. Of course, it looks a little better than a wash cloth.

Don't waste your money.
This hardly dampens the sound and is not a very quality-made product. I would not order this again.
