This Vac Sucks - In a Good Way
Perfect size for home use. My old 6 gal shop vacuum was too bulky. I like this 3 gal size better for small jobs around the house. It has plenty of power for small to medium jobs and is easy to move around. It is a bit quieter than other vacs I have owned. Having an exhaust port so I can use the hose as a blower is really nice. Another good feature is the use of real clamps to lock the motor assembly to the collection bucket. I also like the nice big on/off switch. My only complaint - a small one - is that the power cord is shorter than other vacs I have had. That's why they make extension cords.

Dissapointed.
Seemed very weak.

Lightweight but sturdy. Powerful suction.
Wish it came with a crevice tool but other than that, I really like it. Powerful suction and lightweight. Hopefully it will last.

Quit working shortly after purchase
Shop vac worked great... for the first couple of weeks, then suddenly it quit. We own a business and are constantly fixing things. Not even our most seasoned pro could figure out what was wrong. Yes, we did test it in several outlets. Probably just a lemon. Amazon did issue a refund, but we ordered a different brand. Very disappointed. I've always loved Porter Cable.

Portable wet/dry vac with convenient onboard storage and decent suction
My observations while testing the Porter-Cable Wet/Dry Vac:-- The vacuum is easy to put together, and it is very easy to snap the lid on or off.-- The cord is very short, at 10 feet. Obviously, you can use an extension cord, but that makes this machine just a little bit less convenient to use. You can wrap the cord around the machine's handles.-- The diameter of the hose is just under 2 inches. This is smaller than that of a Shop-Vac I've used, which had a 2.5-inch diameter hose. The smaller size will limit the size of the debris you can pick up. On the other hand, I actually found it painful to hold the Shop-Vac's hose for an extended period of time because of its diameter. Using this Porter-Cable vac feels more like using a standard canister vacuum.-- The vacuum comes with two extension wands and also two nozzle attachments. These can be conveniently stowed on the top of the casters, which is a nice design feature.-- The vacuum is lightweight, only about 14 pounds. This makes it very portable. It also probably contributes to how easy it is to tip the vacuum over while you're using it. On the few occasions when this has happened to me, I've lost suction on the machine afterwards. I've turned off the machine and shaken it, thinking maybe the machine's float mechanism had to fall back into position. This never failed to restore the suction.-- The vacuum is supposed to come with a foam filter for wet pickup. There wasn't one in our box, so I haven't been able to test that function. (I don't anticipate needing that often or at all, however, and honestly, it seems like it would be a hassle to go back and forth between dry and wet pickup. You have to remove the regular filter and replace it with the foam filter. If you're cleaning up a wet basement, that may be worth it, but I don't think you'll haul this thing out and change its filter just to clean up a spill in your kitchen.)-- The vacuum can also be used as a blower, which may come in handy if you need to blow leaves out of your garage or off your driveway.-- The suction is pretty good. It's hard to say, but to me it feels about comparable to a decent regular vacuum, perhaps a bit stronger. It is not as strong as the vacuums you plug quarters into to vacuum your car, however.
