Duraflo 621218 Gable Vent, 12-Inch X 18-Inch

I made a generator shed and used 2 of these for the intake side to allow enough air flow for a 2300 cfm fan. I stapled the inside lip so there are no visible fasteners. Did the job and keeps water out. The hole size will allow insects in so I put some screen material that I got at the local hardware store inside too. These have 112 sq inches or airflow per vent compared to 65 inches for the plastic home depot ones. They don't stock them either and I would have had to order them too.

Just what I needed to add a vent in the gable end of my garage.

These are great. Got two for both ends of a work shed. Easy install. Clean finish. Less expensive than metal versions. Have not yet experienced rain storm to comment on water resistance but I think they will do fine. I did put bug screen on the back side prior to insallation just to assure absolute bug proof. Painted outside same as the outside wall (exterior acrylic paint). Looks good after about a month. Would buy again.

I only gave it four stars as it advertised that it was screened in to keep out insects. No screens. It has small zig zag patterns cut into plastic that any small insects can easily go through. So I had to order a screen kit to retrofit one on here. Otherwise it’s great.

Have attempted to buy similar product locally. However, they were very thin plastic. These were a very heavy gauge plastic.

Used these to provide ventilation on a pole building. I measured carefully the available space available to mount these, which was precisely 18 inches tall. I bought these based on the description provided, (which was 12 x 18"), which would normally refer to the rough opening required to mount them in your gable end. There is not a single dimension on these vents that is 12 inches or 18 inches. The width is more than 12 inches, and the height is more than 18 inches, making the installation a PIA for me. Would be best to provide a dimensioned drawing with the product listing, so folks know what they are getting. Otherwise, a nice vent for the $$, but I agree the air flow openings are a little too large. I also placed a screen over mine to keep insects out.
