Eats the batteries.
I have received these walkie talkies for kids to review on behalf of Amazon. They arrived promptly and well packaged. This is a good set of walkie talkies for the kids. They use them in and around the house, also when we are out and about with the dogs. The sound is OK for the kids, but for me they absolutely go through the batteries. I always have AA batteries, but these have certainly made a huge dent in them. Other than that, I am pleased with them.

We Found It Can Cover Just Over A Mile On A Dog Walk
We ( my husband and I) tested these out with a dog walk. He walked he dog whilst I stayed at home and we noted locations on the route to send a message back. So for instance the first was the bottom of our road, the shop, the corner of another road etc. Leaving the estate I heard him clearly, near power lines not as well nor ideal near a shop, then further on a walk with a few buildings he was clearer and an open space but further away he was crystal clear. He managed to walk about a mile away from our home before I lost all contact. We chose line one to test on and no specific jargon was used so if anyone was listening in they would just hear to random people nattering to each other and testing locations. All the lines were really clear which was a surprise being as we are living near a military camp and I half expected to hear their conversations. The controls are easy to use but you do need the booklet to figure out what some of the settings are for. We wanted these so when one is outside either walking the dog or working on the garden or car it's easier to reach the other without having to yell through windows ( yes I know we are being lazy but really is a game changer).

Its Childs Play
Review for 2 Pack Walkie Talkies for Kids,8 Channels 2 Way Radio Toy with Backlit LCD Flashlight,3 Miles Range for 3-12 Year Old Kids Home,Outside Adventures, Camping, Hiking (Pink)A functional and fun pair of walkie talkies which have a good set of features for a walkie talkie of this price. Features earphone socket as well as an LED light, as well as a removable belt clip. Each unit is powered by 4 x AAA batteries (not included), I have bought several rechargeable batteries to save a small fortune. The range is good, I tested in a large local park and speech was loud and clear. Gave these to my nephews to play with, they loved it and had lots of fun. Overall a good pair of walkie talkies at a great price.

set of walkie talkies
I have a large garden (1/2 acre) and my grandkids use these while they're outside playing.Range is good - one child can be in the living room speaking to another at the end of the garden and they can hear each other perfectlyMy only complaint is they do not come with rechargeable batteries, in fact no batteries are included. Each walkie talkie needs 4 x AA batteries so it adds to the price.I chose to buy rechargeable ones so I can save some money but it does annoy me when toys that need batteries do not have them included - for this reason I knocked a star off the review

Battery only. Chance of radio waves being shared.
The media could not be loaded. Great fun for children that are too young for phones. Very clear and easy to use. The instructions go quite in-depth which seems confusing at first but it’s basically making sure both units are on the same channel and press the talk button to talk and let go so the other person can press their talk button to talk. Handy torch light for adventures in dens and sleepovers. These do take 8 batteries and not rechargeable unfortunately. The back covers slip off very easily and probably would fall off if dropped. The batteries are a tight fit but do go in with a bit of force. There is a possibility of sharing the same radio waves with someone else in the area but again the instructions go into great detail on how to change that.I’ve videoed the sound quality so I hope that helps ☺️

Kid friendly and good clear sound
The media could not be loaded. These are a decent pair of walkie talkies designed to appeal to kids. They have all the usual features and are multi channel. The units run on 4 AAA batteries each. They also have external mic and headphone jacks. In use the sound is very clear and quite loud. The volume can be adjusted. It's claimed that these have a 3km range, haven't been able to test that but they easily worked the length of our local park c.1000 metres with no drop out and still very clear reception. I would just recommend changing them to a different frequency than default when you get them. The lower channels seems to have a lot iof external interference on them by default.Overall a nice gift for my nephews and something they have enjoyed using.

UK License needed... but Wow this is a great product, works incredibly well and a very nice design
These are not PMR 446; and they are using frequencies that in the UK will need an Ofcom License. This is the Family Radio Service bands (Business WT Frequencies) 462.5500MHz to 462.7250MHz and 467.5625MHz to 467.7125MHz which is reserved in UK and EU, so licenses are required. That said it is a really nice little walkie talkie set that has 22 tuneable channels and a very good 3km range. Each handset runs on 4 AAA batteries and these lasted a week of decent use . We avoided using the little torch on each to conserve the power for the radio tansceiver. The setup and changing the various options are easy to use and the devices work well together. So long as you respect the licensing requirement these are an excellent buy. The product is 5 stars the product page and description failing to mention the licensing need is poor. Happy to recommend if you are going to get license, Andrew
