Not just for roasting meats.
We grow about 95% of our yearly food consumption on our mini-farm/homestead, and tomatoes are one of our main staples. We grow 1000 SF of tomatoes yearly, so an easier way to process mass quantities of tomatoes is a must. We purchased this commercial roaster to cook down tomatoes into different sauces, salsas, etc. that we process and can in canning jars.Day 1, we over-did it on the temperature a bit, cranking it up to 450 degrees. It did a fantastic job cooking down the sauce, but you MUST keep a close eye on the pan if you are saucing, to make sure the sauce doesn't burn around the outside edge of the pot. This took about 6-7 hours.Day 2, 400 degrees is far better; less baby-sitting stirring around the outside edge. It's taking longer, but good things often take time.

Large roaster
The media could not be loaded. The product arrived as described. There is only one problem - it smokes a lot the first time plugged in and gives off horrible toxic smelling odor. The video attached doesnt really capture the amount of smoking happening. There were numerous black metal flakes in the box. Not sure if the flakes are inside the roaster causing the smoking? Second time plugged in roasyer worked fine and no smoking.

Not like the Hamilton Beach cooker I just used
Hamilton Beach is Proctor Silex, the same company. What happened to Hamilton Beach was the bowl wore through and leaked. The new Proctor Silex (Hamilton Beach) is much like the one I had; however, the bowl is made of much thinner metal which will wear a hole in it much faster than the Hamilton Beach I had. I originally attempted to buy the bowl for the Hamilton Breach, and they no longer carry that replacement bowl for my Hamilton Beach unit. As always, every manufacturer uses 'planned obsolescence' to guide you into buying a new one. In short, I should buy a new bowl now while they're still available since this one will develop a leak much faster than the old Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex.

The only roaster oven you will need , an invaluable restaurant tool.
This commercial roaster oven flawlessly cooks 20 lbs of pork roast to delicious succulent perfection in short order. It is the perfect size for 20 lbs of meat without extra space around the roast so you won't need excessive braising liquid to completely cover the meat so cooking that much meat is fast safe and efficient. Incredible tool for the money. I couldn't run my business without these Proctor Silex commercial roaster ovens.

New roaster
New roaster is the perfect size that I needed. Overall a good product. Make sure to clean and warm it up prior to using. It does have a smell when first used. It does not have a light to indicate when it's at full temp. Instructions state to heat for 15 min to reach set temperature.

I was very disappointed in this roaster oven
I was very disappointed in this roaster oven. Smaller than expected. For being discribed as a commercial product, i just don't see it. My other one, which i replaced with this one,...actually had more room in it...also, this one chipped the very first use on the lip of the liner (commercial quality...i dont think so!)...which i really hate because now i have a rust spot...also discoloratuon in the liner very bad after first use. I would have returned it if i had kept the box. Also, looks like a defect in the bottom of the liner. I had alot of family problems and didnt let the company know, then after so long, i thought it was too late to complain, but i wish i had because it was expensive for being what it was...Update...having paid an outrageous price for this so called commercial roaster, I was forced to continue to use it because I couldn't afford another one. I only use it at Thanksgiving and christmas, with an exception today. My son had a ham I decided to cook it for him with some cabbage from his garden so he could freeze for future meals. I wanted to use this roaster, so, just like always, I had to clean all the rust off of it. The inside of the lid was honorable. It took me so long to clean it up I almost gave up. This is the last time I'm going to ever use it. Rust scares me and I had to inspect it very thoroughly to make sure every speck was clean and sanitary. I will never buy Proctor Silex again. This was totally unacceptable to get a roaster that doesn't stand up to 2 to 3 times a year use. Commercial quality...that's funny. Money throwed away. Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT PURCHASE. YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Four Stars
Only shortcoming is the lack of an indicator light to show the heating element is operating.
