It is very thick and strong. It may not stop the rug on top of it form sliding around - I had to tape the pad to the floor and the rug to the pad with rug tape. The hardest part was cutting it to fit to rug I wanted it for - so if you can get one the exact size you need I highly recommend that. I had to use a wallpaper cutting blade holder and use a lot of pressure because this is very thick and fibrous, not easy to tear, which is a good thing.

What a night and day difference for the rug on our tile floor. Feels like I’m walking on my carpet rather than the cold, hard surface I was before. I was a little Leary after reading reviews, but I’m more than happy with it.

The texture of the felt was coarse (rough and scratchy) as opposed to regular felt, which has a smooth consistent look and feel, much like comparing composite wood to plywood.
