Informative and entertaining
I purchased this book as college material and I ended up enjoying to read it because besides informing about tourett's syndrome, the author tells her story in an amusing way.

Great book
I had to choose a book from a list for my 10th grade honor English class, I chose this book, and I am very happy with that choice. This story was captivating and informative and kept me interested throughout the chapters. It is definitely a quick read, even being a slightly slower reader, I finished in only a few hours.

This is a well written book. I do wish that the author would have added a few more chapters about her treatment though.

Profound knowledge
Very good read with profound knowledge and memoirs of both diseases. I found the parental attacks on the characters as children very saddening.

Moving and insightful portrayal of Tourette Syndrome
This autobiographical account of life with TS and OCD gives a revealing insight into the actual reality of living with TS and, commonly associated, obsessive compulsive behaviours. The much celebrated and over emphasised symptoms of Tourette's such as motor and vocal tics, which provoke the most attention (cursing affects only a small minority of sufferers), are only the tip of the iceberg. This account portrays the reality of the condition from the inside and the coping mechanisms Amy has developed which are not always effective and often have consequences themselves. It also conveys the desperation and isolation of the disorder and how other people's lack of understanding or outright lack of tolerance increase the suffering immeasurably. Hopefully, this account will help raise awareness and improve understanding for those who have a close relationship with Tourette's as well as for educators, health professionals and the public at large.
