Revolver Special Edition 1CD

Beatles
How many iterations of Beatles albums can there possible be?! OK, I bit on this one. The White album is still my biggest weakness... sigh. Revolver, however, is a great album. They changed and grew as artists so fast it was hard to keep up. I'm still working at it.

The Beatles best album
The Beatles best album and by default the best album in the known universe. The outtakes are interesting, but not essential. Highly recommended, but so are the 2009 or the 1987 reissues.

Special Edition
Sir Paul writes a intriguing opening remembrance in the booklet w/ this version of REVOLVER. He shares many wonderful details: how the Beatles at that time loved being in the studio, how Ringo's song Yellow Submarine came to be, George's songwriting coming to the fore, the band's creativity effortless almost at times, he said. Anyway, I'm a Beatles fan didn't own this CD 'til now, very happy to have it. They performed at Red Rocks Amphitheater here in Denver, a little before my time..BUT, very BEST concert I ever saw was Paul and Linda (RIP) w/ WINGS...*that* concert rocked in a most beautiful way."Contrary to popular belief, the album “Revolver” wasn’t named after the gun. It was referenced after what an album does when played. It revolves..."

Listened 5-6 times in short order and finally got used to the lower end, well, being there. Those sixties recordings are always a bit a thin down there. Cardboardish by current standards. The first listen took me aback to the point where I thought they ruined it. Not So. After decades and thousands of times hearing the songs as originally released it just took some adjustment. I read of the doctrine they held and process they used to enhance the original 4 track stuff that was first laid down over half a century ago. They took great care and really just took things apart, polished them, and reassembled them. The sounds are brighter, clearer, more complete. But not really different. Hard to explain. This isn't colorizing Film Noir. It's a classic unique car in mint condition for its day. Then using new technology to clean and refit all the original parts, and buff the original pristine finish to a new full luster. I think it worked.

Best version yet
I have the original viny of Revolver, also an earlier CD pressing, which sounded pretty good and went back to the original British pressing and now I have this newest version, totally remastered and sounding darned good. I'd had to run an A-B comparison test to really test this out but I'd say this newest version tops them all, well, the vinyl especially. As I'm sure many have probably already read about this newest pressing but it's hearing it that will do the trick. I have a pretty good speaker system and on it this sounded terrific. If you're a Beatles fan, and even, like me, you have an older recording of Revolver, you'll want to get this one.

One of The Beatles' best albums.
You can't go wrong with any Beatles album. The remix and surround are excellent.

Another wonderful Giles Martin Remaster
Lke the previous re-mastered CDs, this Revolver version is the best CD of this album I've heard yet. Punchy and dynamic, increased clarity and detail are only some of the this albums features. Show how good The Beatles original recordings really were. Only my Mobile Fidelity LP can compare. If you have a good sound system, get it.

Tolle CD

REVOLVER - THE BEATLES (Giles Martin demix and remix) CD
Giles Martin took the original recording apart and rebuilt it. All I can say is that I have never heard Revolver sound so good. I am hearing things I never heard before. I bought the CD because I had read that the vinyl edition has pressing plant issues. The CD comes in a cardboard gatefold cover and includes a booklet with pics and info. If you are a fan of the old 1966 mix, you might want to hear this new version. I think it is a vast improvement. Recommended.
