Don't fit standard bag dispensers
I really wanted to like these bags. I am willing to spend more on a product in order to reduce my personal carbon footprint (or, in this case, our dog's paw prints) but I won't be buying these bags again unless there are a couple of changes to the rolls themselves. The 'why not?' is below:First, the good.1. The bags are 9x13", like pretty much every other dog bag we've ever purchased. We no longer need bags that big but they should do the job for most dogs.2. They open very easily when you need to use them. No need to create friction to get the edges to separate, a simply thumb/forefinger movement will suffice. Now, the not so good.1. The bags come in rolls of 20 so they DO NOT FIT a standard bag dispenser. Easiest answer to this issue should be use a few bags and then put them in a dispenser. NOPE, see #2 below.2. The bags are not wound around any sort of spool so they won't go around the prongs that are in most dispensers. I saw a response to a query that they have a spool but the six rolls I purchased certainly don't have them and the seller's pics don't show one. It looked like, from the pics that the bags were rolled in such a way that they would work w/out a spool but they are wound too tightly for the bags to fit around the prong.3. The little stickers used to keep the rolls tight do not come off easily and you will almost certainly rip the first bag. It should still be usable but that rip can get very big if you are not careful.S, yes, the bags are supposed to be biodegradable but, from a practical standpoint, they are lacking two very basic features. I saved a (cardboard) spool from a different type of bag and, once I used enough bags from these rolls to allow them to fit in a dispenser, I unroll them and re-roll them around the spool. It's doable but not something I want to have to keep doing. Plus all it will take is someone else forgetting that I need the spool and that's no longer an option. It can't be that difficult to come up with a biodegradable spool and resize the rolls. If they do that, I will probably buy the bags again. Until them, I'll look elsewhere.

Some batches tear when opening
We purchased these bags 4 times from May 2021-June 2022. At first we were extremely happy with them; they are significantly more expensive than non-compostable bags and seemed to be equally durable - but we've had nothing but problems with the June shipment. In at least half of the rolls, 50-75% of the bags are tearing to the point that they are unusable when trying to open the bags. (I'm not going to bother posting pictures of torn bags, but there are good pictures posted by other reviewers for reference). The bags are printed on one side, and the way the bags are folded the last fold is ink-side-in - it seems that the printed parts are sticking together and even when meticulously then trying to unfold the bags they tear.I have two guesses as to why our initial shipments were great but the majority of the most recent batch are useless - I believe that either we received a bad batch of bags, or (more likely) the most recent batch was exposed to higher temperatures during shipping which caused the ink to melt together. I will note that we keep the bags inside the house; I suspect we would have even more problems if the bags were kept in a garage or outdoors.I think these bags would be fine if they just kept them plain, without all the cute design printed on them that no one looks at or cares about, but I won't be buying these anymore.

First batch great! Second batch flimsy!
What with all the concern about microplastics, I fully support bags that are 100% biodegradable. My first order of these bags worked great. A couple of them tore when detaching from the roll, but once I got the hang of looking for the perforation, these worked great. However the second batch is useless and I am returning it to Amazon. Just pulling the bag over my hand in order to grab the waste is enough to split these completely. I went through about 5 bags and they all had the same problem. It seems logical that this product would have a short shelf-life, and the manufacturing process may be finicky. I signed up for a reorder return and am going to hope that the next shipment is a good batch. Would like to give this product 5 stars, but it needs to be more consistent!

Truly is biodegradable
As good as any plastic bag but so much better for the environment. I tested it by leaving a bag out on the yard. Sure enough, it began to breakdown in a few days.

Tear too easily
I LOVE that these bags biodegrade, but mine tear too easily and not always on the perforations. So, to use one that rips I must be careful picking up the poop. Sometimes just putting my hand inside the bag makes it rip and I am trying to be careful! So sorry. Perhaps I just received a weaker batch?

New Style - Star bottom & no core
This batch is different from the last box purchase February 2018.New batch: - No center core: I like that there is no core to dispose of, but the new bags do not fit in my earth-rated bag dispenser. I REALLY like by E-R bag dispenser. It has a hook to hold "full" bags. This is not a regular item on most dispensers. - Star seal bottom: the previous bag fully unfolded to a flat seal on the bottom. I prefer the flat seal, but the star seal bottom work fine. Both February 2018 & April 2019 orders: - 3-4 bags must be removed to get the roll to fit in the dispenser. (I had 1 roll of the new order fit in and spin around the dispenser core. No more will fit in the dispenser.)It is a high quality bag that can bounce and flop about "full" on the holder to finish the walk and does not burst.

With very little manipulation, these consistently tear and split
I bought these 2 years ago for walking my 11 pound dog. They were fine. Then the pandemic happened and we got our exercise in our backyard using a handled pooper-scooper instead of the bags. Now that we are using the bags again, I find that they almost always split and tear. They are very fragile. The cornstarch concept is excellent for the environment, but if time renders these defective, then it creates a problem. There is no expiration date on them.
