Diary of Charlotte Forten: A Free Black Girl Before Civil War (First-Person Histories)

I love this book because it gives the dates of when things happened. I like that it has pictures, and that it has definitions of hard words on the same page. Even though it is a diary this book goes into more detail about what else happened at the same time.I would recommend this book to people who are interested in black biographies. There are other diaries just like this for people who don't want to learn about a black girl.
