Unlike the smoked oysters you find in your local grocery store, these oysters are not grown in China, but rather the USA. Ekone, is one of the largest independent oyster farmers and is based on the Willapa Bay in Southwest Washington, near the mouth of the Columbia River. The Willapa is the cleanest bay in the United States. These oysters are a truly unique, boutique oyster. They are grown, harvested, smoked and canned by Ekone in their Bay Center facility. There are no machines everything is done by hand, from the harvesting to the shuking to the smoking. All natural, and in most cases organic products are used to flavor the oysters. There are no preservatives or added chemicals. They are grown, smoked and canned in a way that is healthy and pure. Ekone oysters are larger and more flavorful than the commodity, grocery store brands grown in China. They make an elegant and unique addition to any snack, meal, party or event. Ekone Smoked Oysters from the Willapa Bay are a local, gourmet, healthy, and sustainable choice. FLAVORFUL: Naturally wood smoked and hand packed with all natural flavors HEALTHY: Gluten free; excellent source of protein and iron and BPA Free cans SUSTAINABLE: From managed, sustainable fisheries; product of USA PURE: Farmed in the cleanest bay in the USA - Willapa Bay, Washington

Shame it is packed with unhealthy Oil
Very tasty product with a premium price that is worth it for people who don't care about the high Omega 6 oil content of sunflower oil. The advertising touts the high Omega 3 content of oysters (true) but this is squandered by putting high Omega 6 oil (sunflower) in the can, probably because it is cheap. At nearly $9 a can you would think they could spring for a healthier oil choice. If they packed this in Extra Virgin Olive Oil I would be eating several cans a week, alas my health dictates that I stop ordering altogether. I'd rather take my chance on Korean oysters packed in olive oil for 1/3 the price.

You get what you pay for
This is a premium product. It costs about twice as much as cheap, imported oysters. You get what you pay for. First of all, China is completely corrupt and almost all foods that come from there are poisoned. The US is pretty corrupt itself because we repeatedly catch them and only ban the foods on a case by case basis. Probably the most famous case was when a huge number of pets died from pet food imported from them. The most infamous case is when poisoned baby formula killed a few babies from a VERY rare (like one case in a hundred years usually) disease called eoisonic myalgic. Even then, the US made excuses, pretended to not understand and banned "tryptophan" for many years. Google this issue if you need to understand more. The real issue was that China ignores all rules of law for very little amounts of bribe money and just lets people die. Do NOT eat anything from China, lol. This American product is so different, anyway, they even really are not the same thing. These are oysters, carefully farmed, smoked under high quality conditions. The alternatives are mutant oyster things of who knows what with smoke additive (if you are lucky) and slathered with as much oil as they can cut with before people just stop buying. The taste is night and day, by the way. And the cost is relatively low, actually compared to normal American brands. There really is no reasonable alternative. You get what you pay for. In this case quite a bit more literally than most.

The best canned smoked Oysters I have ever ate in 56 years of my life.
I live in Washington State and I have been looking for a good canned smoked oyster that was grown and harvested right here in the united states. Well I finally found some. All my life I have bought canned oysters that come from China. These oysters from right here from near the of the Columbia river in Oregon and Washington are by far the best canned Oysters I have ever purchased. I will continue to buys these from now on. It is a mouth watering special treat. Ekone Oysters are the best ever.Bradley Robling from Spanaway, Washington

My friends and I like to make appetizers using smoked oysters
My friends and I like to make appetizers using smoked oysters. This is my first purchase of Ekone Oysters from Bear Claw Organics. The product was beyond excellent. Over 15 oysters packed in each tin and the oysters were not swimming in oil. The taste and hint of smoke flavor blows all competition away. Bear Claw Organics is now the only provider from whom I will be ordering packaged oysters. Wish I could give them 10 stars. All of my friends to whom I have given a tin of this product, now indicate that they will only order from Bear Claw. My thanks to all Bear Claw teammates and then to the management team.Blessings, Pressly in South Carolina

VERY GOOD to Excellent! A+
My husband loves these. I am a fan of oysters of all kinds, and these are the best oysters, and the only ones I found that a sustainably farmed. I have no way of knowing if that is true, but it's a claim the company makes and I am sure a matter of public record. We actually found a tiny pearl in the can, weird, I know, thought it was a stone or some grit, (they are not gritty,) so it was fairly easy to identify, and quite a surprize, very tiny. (Must be some healthy oysters!)They are pricey, but are not an item one eats a lot. I usually save them for special or celebratory occassions. They are a little dryer, (also packed in oil,) a little more dense, like a pate type texture, than some of the very soft ones I have had from other brands, very clean tasting. No slime or goo whatsover. And would make a nice gift for oyster lovers, coming in the Royal Blue fancy can that they do.

Outstanding!
These are excellent. As far as I know they are the only smoked oysters raised in America - most of the rest are from China (farmed under the chicken coop so you know what they eat). Almost no oil in the can - they are packed tight. I also recommend the teriyaki, lemon and habanero hots flavors from Ekone Oyster Company. All are terrific. You get what you pay for.

Wonderful.
These are the best smoked oysters I've ever had. They are a different experience that the oysters i buy at the store. The texture is firmer. The oysters are well seasoned. Slightly saltier that I'm used too, but enjoyable. They are packed in very little oil. My father, two brothers and I love smoked oysters and we all agreed that although store bought oysters are great, they can't compare to Ekone oysters.

Big Difference to Crown Prince and Northern Catch - more smoke flavor and much firmer texture
These are much firmer in texture and the taste is smokier as well - would be more reminiscent to bacon if you didn't know better. The other brands in the managed farms in China and S. Korea (Crown Prince and Northern Catch) are much softer, almost creamy, in texture but very subtle in taste. So it depends on what you prefer.I'm mostly eating it to get a food-based source of zinc because you don't need to eat much to get your RDA. I could eat either for this reason.
